Had a letter in the post today from Sir Richard, about how Sky are playing hard ball, or rather taking their ball with them when they don't get paid what they want for their services....
So will Virgin Media be reducing their fee's now that we will be a few channels short.....I doubt it!0 -
we are now with virgin media. previously with telewest and we werent informed of them switching over until i opened the browser windown one day and discovered the virgin media home page instead of telewest.
TBH we dont really watch sky 1 2 or 3 but still its a bit underhand of virgin media to not keep us informed. by us i mean virgin media customers not just myself.
as previously stated, will they be reducing their monthly fees? There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
Virgin media have already stated that they won't be reducing their prices as 'They still offer great value'! It's on the BBC website in the Virgin/Sky article0

we canx sky sports about 4 months ago. is virgin media worth the money now or should we just get a set top box? There's someone in my head, but it's not me0

sky sports and movies arent affected, its only sky one, news, sports news and travel
most of which i dont watch so no great loss to me
i've read somewhere that sky will lose apporx 20m if virgin dont carry those channels plus it helps that virgin have secured the VOD rights to all seasons of Lost and are getting more vod content0 -
Sky One is nothing special these days and the rest of the Sky Basics package looks even less worthwhile. I'm happy to stick with Virgin, the new Virgin Central free VOD channel is great! Can I help?0

Dont you have to pay to download from the VOD channel though?
I am not best pleased as the only think i bother about on Sky is LOST."On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0 -
Don't think you have to pay anything on the VOD channel. However it's not really anything new as to what is already on the Video On Demand section from the Home menu. Perhaps a lot of people don't realise this as there are absolutely tons of shows on here to watch when you want.
There are certain things on the VOD content you do have to pay for although these are in a different section (like "4 on demand" or the movies on demand).
I certainly won't be dropping Virgin and moving to Sky or freeview, the V+ box and the VOD content is very worthwhile and I am only going to miss out on watching 3 shows on Sky One (24, Lost and the Simpsons) and I can easily watch these elsewhere anyway.
I think Sky got nervous when Virgin took over (especially since it's looking like Virgin might be able to expand by using ADSL) and have decided to play dirty. I am willing to believe Virgin when they say that Sky effectively wanted double what the current charge is (it was stated by Virgin they wanted a minimum amount of money which was more than the number of tv customers Virgin currently have).0 -
I loved lost and battlestar gallactica(pretty rubbish the last 2 episodes tho) but ill get them from other sources as i refuse to join greedy sky. Will get rid of virgin package as theres not enough to pay them the amount i do anymore.0
