Carry a baseball bat and keep a ball in your pocket.
If coppers ask about baseball bat, say its to swing the ball. Give a sly smile too. They cant do nothing. they might pressure you but stick to guns. Dont mention about other dogs or for protection.
Carrying a stick is illegal unless you say its for the dog to fetch.
Carrying a bat without play purposes is also illegal if you dont have a proper reason ready.

I hate dogs and wish they all died. However im not cruel to them.0 -
Smack the dog on the nose and if anyone complains, say the dog went for you.
If the owner doesn't like it, smack him on the nose.0 -
My female dog was attacked last night by a male Japanese Akita out on the streets on his own.
She was bitten on her back leg and was screaming, but fortunately my male dog went for the Akita and chased him off.
She was shaking like a leaf and I got her home with the help of a neighbour, who saw what happened.
He said the Akita belongs to a man in the next street who allows him to roam the gated alley behind our house to save bothering to walk him. The gate is always being left open, so he must have got out.
Fortunately the bite wasn't deep but Lucy is reluctant to go out today.
I feel like going to speak to the man but he's a nasty piece of work and has been known to threaten neighbours.
I'm really fuming!
I've read that Akitas and similar should never be off lead as they are highly prey driven dogs.
Years ago I used to clip a large bunch of keys to the leash when setting out on a walk. Not for protection but convenience. One day we'd hardly got out of the car when one of a pair of Rotties attacked my dog without any provocation at all.
Thank God the other one was passive or it would have been a bloodbath.
Without even thinking I swung the lead at the attacker and hit it straight on the front of its skull. It yelped and let go of mine.
Of course the owner shouted all sorts at me, and I was lucky in my aim that I didn't injure it.
Thing is with dog on dog attacks is that they can cause lasting damage and I think the younger the dog, the more it lasts in their mind, as they then think all other dogs are then the same.
My present rescue dog was I assume, attacked at an early stage in his life. He is so terrified of other dogs, he'd rather attack first than wait and see. I only walk him where I can see in all directions and in a full harness. I'd hate to think he may cause another dog to go through what he is suffering.
Dog on dog attacks should be taken more seriously and frankly
I would arm myself with whatever feels appropriate zaksmum. Beware of carrying a water pistol though, we don't want to read the headline;
"Dog walker in stand-off with armed police" :eek:0 -

I carried a stick in the city for years when dog walking and nobody ever questioned it.
Maybe they thought I just liked to go hiking!0 -
