    An employer doesn't have to see a direct connection with the job in order to decide not to employ someone because of an entry on their CRB report. There is no formal right of appeal for any recruitment decision.

    Perhaps it's just "where I am", here's an excerpt from somewhere else;
    1. The employee’s criminal record should be assessed in relation to the task they will be required to perform and the circumstances in which the work will be carried out.
    2. Wherever possible applicants should be offered jobs unless there is a serious concern that their conviction will cause a serious risk if they are appointed to the role. If it is decided that an applicant is not suitable to be posted into a sensitive post then a non sensitive post must be found.

    Maybe the op should try applying there? ;d

    There is a difference between should and must. An employer maybe should do something but it doesn't mean they will.

    Yes. But many employers haven't taken up references etc either when making a conditional offer. If the offer is only conditional there could be a lot of reasons suggest offers are withdrawn. Without knowing for a fact that this incident is the cause … and JasperMac seems to not too interested in coming back to clarify.
    The OP says he's getting turned down for job after job. So he gets so many offers for work, he should share with the rest of us his secret for passing interviews.
