take this from a person whos had 14 cars in 10 years of driving, and iv owned 3 vw's
So, fiat and citreon have some sort of exemption from all the crash testing, type approval, and safety all the other cars have to go through?
No ncap rating for a tinfoil car?0 -

I’d be tempted to go for the 500/Ka. We’ve got a mix of both on the company fleet, and although Mrs CK won’t let me have one (2 kids), I do have a soft spot for the 500, although I do admit they’re a bit pricey.
Another one I’ve got a soft spot for is the Toyota iQ.

VW have the worst long term reliability of any car brand in the USA and not by a small margin. Most of their cars have cost more, lose more in value and are less fuel efficient than other brands. As a percentage they may keep more, but if you work it out in cash terms they'll cost you more. The Toyota Aygo + clones which are 8 year old cars with a revised engine, are able to do better MPG than the VW UP.
Hyundai i10 is the best car in class, the Kia Picanto is from the same platform and rather good too.0 -

I've never understood all the hype on VW.
It must work though, if you look at all the adverts, simply saying other cars aren't VW's, or the price should be more, and their fans flood in.
I've had a golf, it wasn't any better, or any worse than any other car.
Dull though.0 -

Its interesting that Fiat took the revisions that Ford made to the 500's suspension when they developed the KA and are using it in 500.0 -
