Help with making seeded bread please

I get lovely malted bread flour from the monthly Farmers Market - the chap who runs the egg stall carries it, - and it actually comes from a farm in Cambridgeshire (I just checked on the bag, to make sure I have it correct). I get their white bread flour, too, as I find a 50/50 mix of the two makes for a superb loaf.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0

Well, Warburtons is only a last resort, as we prefer the heavier texture of home made bread. I make my own seed blend with the Bradmalt flour. What does Warburton's RRP cost? I always feel I"m a bit extravagant with my bread ingredients. I do try and get the big bags of seeds on offer.
I also go a bit mad with the seeds (see recipe above) I get my health food store to order me a Kilo at a time, works out much cheaper in the long run than buying little packs

Its either £1.69 or 1.70 in Asda, i think it depends on where i go! we have 4 Asdas in Aberdeen... our council isn't biased at all lol
Thank you all, I will definitely try that recipe out Swan
I really wish i still lived in Leicester, there were so many Asian type store i could buy huge bags or spices / nuts / grains so cheaply, everything up here is so expensive
Well I have got a pre-mixed bag of Tesco Crusty loaf in the BM cooking away to try with dinner and then once that is finished im going to make the spicy fruit loaf so i can take it out before bedtime and give it to the kids in the morning for breakfast

Im sooo excited, how sad is that! I even told the woman in the petrol station i was going off to buy a bread maker today and the guy in curry's remembered me from going in last week to make sure they would have one in stock for me today as i couldn't afford it last week but they took it off the website and i panicked so went in and spoke to them to make sure they would have plenty. I have no lifeBankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790 -

we have the opposite to your Asda problem, here in Dundee we've so many Tesco stores I've lost count of them all!
well done getting your bargain BM, hope you enjoy your first loaves0 -
I have found 2 decent Indian shops, however they are very small and only have limited supplies, I get great bags of Rice from there and Chapatti flour, but the selection isnt the best, there is a good Chinese shop too, but that mostly has frozen food in it lol There used to be 2 fantastic stores like those i would find in Leicester, but they got replaced by Polish stores instead, we seem to have a lot of those popping up all over the place, I guess its down to the large population of Polish up here and the large population of Indian people in Leicester, there is an Indian family who live next door to my mums and mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm just walking past their house would get my mouth watering haha
I miss those Scoop and save shops, I would think in the current *credit crunch* we would be seeing more of them pop up but sadly notBankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790 -

a good site I use (mainly for Lock & Lock containers, but they have a great selection of spices etc) is Spices of India it might be worth looking there for ingredients you can't find easily in Aberdeen
free delivery on orders over £30 & they're superfast at getting goods to you
was it Matthews Chinese store you went to? the one here is supermarket-sized & has aisles of noodles, spices, chilled goods etc, so if it wasn't, it'd be worth visiting your local Matthews
the scoop & save shops seem to have disappeared here too which is a shame, possibly Health & Safety grounds?
anyway, hope you're enjoying your bread0 -
OMGosh that Matthews sounds amazing! I will go and see the one you pointed out here, however i dont hold much hope to be honest
I went to the *best* one up here called Campbells, they supply to all the major Chinese stores around including my Favorite Chinese all you can eat buffet. I love the spring rolls they sell, but the little non-frozen food they sell isnt designed for you average house cook to go and look at. I will will go give that one a try though when im in town next week. and i will let you know how i get on
My first loaf of bread was amazing and soooo tasty and soooo soft and soooo not-cut-able! lol
Electric knife shopping tomorrow, bread makers are so expensive hahaBankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790 -
I love my breadmaker - I have a 256 as well. We get sunflower seeds, linseed, poppy seeds and anything else that's on special in Holland and Barratt or the supermarket and add a tsp of each to the little nut dispenser at the top. It works with all the bread recipes I've tried.
One breadmaker-related purchase that I can't live without is my slice-guide-thing, which I bought from Lakeland. It was expensive (£18, I think), but it allows me to adjust the size of slice and keeps my husband from making doorstop sandwiches (we're on a perpetual diet).

if the Aberdeen Matthews is anything like the one here you'll love itI can get lost for ages just browsing around & yes, do let us know how it goes
glad your bread turned out well :T
I had to buy an electric knife too, I bought it for the 'Italian' loaf, it's absolutely nothing like Italian bread, but is sooo soft & fluffy & tasty, you must try it
PS ... if you like Chinese food there's a little restaurant in Bridge street, the Yangtze River, they do fabulous Dim Sum in the afternoon, but you have to ask specifically for the Dim Sum menu
I've loved everything I've tried there so far, but haven't been able to bring myself to try the 'chicken claws' or 'cow's stomach' (tripe) yet0 -
