was it Matthews Chinese store you went to? the one here is supermarket-sized & has aisles of noodles, spices, chilled goods etc, so if it wasn't, it'd be worth visiting your local Matthews
I went to Matthews today!!! It was great and they had SOOO much stuff way more than my more trade-designed Chinese shop i normally go to. The only thing im not sure of is curry sauce, I desperately want a Chinese take away so Im trying to make a Chinese veggie curry to satisfy my urges and save a fortune! I got one, but they have so many sauces lol... have you tried them and which would you recommend?
They didnt have as many seeds as i would like either, but they do have nice big bags of others and my frozen spring rolls and some curry parcels... mmmm im soo hungry! have to try it all soon.
Anyway, THANK YOU!!!Bankruptcy Supporters Club No.1790 -

so glad you liked Matthews, I always come out of there with a lot more stuff than I intended
I've not tried their curry sauces, but there was a thread a while ago where they were mentioned, the one everyone seemed to like was in a flat plastic tray but I can't remember the brand. I'll see if I can find it for you (could take some time though knowing the search function here)
shame you've not found a source of the seeds you wantlooks like it's going to be a matter of trying any Asian or Health Food store you come across to see what they stock and/or what they might be able to order in for you
I'd recommend the stores I use, but Dundee's a long way to travel to buy seeds!
PS ... I've got a Ken Hom recipe for Chinese curry that gets the thumbs up whenever I make it, I'll PM it to you if you like?0 -
Oh yes please that would be great
They had two types of sauce in a flat plastic tray, both of them are curry pastes, I spoke to a woman who works there and she recommended one over the other but really wasn't sure, I guess its a try and see hehe
I will definitely be in there more often, we got some weird crisps and my frozen foods, curry sauce a big bag of bread crumbs, a few sweets and some egg noodles all for £12 somethingbargain shopping if ever i saw it
