Actually, that's a very good point and I fear I gave incorrect advice in my earlier post about lone parents only requiring to work 16 hours.
If her son is the youngest child, then of course, she is no longer a lone parent because he is no longer considered a dependent!
so yes, loss of both WTC and CTC in that scenario, if she has no children, only adult non-dependents.0 -
I'm in a similar position, my daughter leaves 6th form this summer then hopefully goes to university in September, but I won't be able to go out to work because I'm a full-time carer for my husband. We don't get CTC because we're still under the old system and we get money for our daughter in with my husbands Incapacity Benefit,...
Forgive my ignorance - what old system are you talking about that makes you ineligible for CTC?0 -
What sort of shop only opens 16 hours per week? In your circs I'd look for something f-time, even if you find something for 30 hours with WTC topping up there's no guarantee that the Government or subsequent ones won't move the goal posts and stop it.0

Unless you have only recently become a single parent, you should really have been preparing for this over the last x years rather than 4 months before it is going to happen. With a 19 year old, childcare would not have been an issue for a number of years0

If you are a carer, I don't think you would not have to meet the requirements - I am assuming that your husband receives DLA middle or higher rate and you can claim Carer's Allowance.0 -

Don't forget how much your outgoing will go down when your daughter leaves for university - you may find that you're not that much worse off.0 -

I put in a claim when i started work but apparently i wasn't intitled to any HB OR CTB due to £134 C/WTC and my 16hrs @ min wage0
