Tesco failed then duplicated delivery

Ordered matching 2 chair and table garden set from Tesco online for £99.75 and the items were promised for a specific day with a 24hr confirmation. Nevertheless the delivery failed owing to (allegedly) truck breakdown but promised a couple of days later. Delivery failed again and I telephoned to complain just before we had to leave for an evening appointment. Customer services said they would re-confirm before we left home. They didn't. We received a call from them the next day to say goods would be delivered in a couple of hours. They arrived intact by truck and 2 men brought the heavy single-boxed goods to the back gate and I signed for receipt. A couple of day's later duplicate goods were delivered but, as we were not at home, they were left at neighbours, despite their own website saying bulky goods would not be left elsewhere. I e-mailed and telephoned Tesco to complain again and suggested that rather than their agents calling to re-collect, we would keep the goods and, naturally, pay for them again. You can imagine my amazement when I was quoted £298 -a 300% increase. I was told our order was a special offer :rotfl:Needless to say they were told to collect the duplicated items pronto. Even that they can't cope with, as we've received 2 phone calls making and then cancelling pick-ups. Would we shop with Tesco's again? Nope. Are we surprised that they issued a profit warning? Nope. Have we learned a lesson? Yep.
