    Morning all,

Funeral went well yesterday, despite the minister going on a bit. The service truly captured what a kind, giving and gentle man my aunt's dad was. His widow looked well, which is good, as she had been suffering from problems while he was ill too - I suspect the stress of the situation hadn't helped.

My Paddington goody bag arrived while I was out, but it was a bit of a disappointment. It didn't have a bear or even the DVD in it - a keyring and pin badge, which I'll ebay, a couple of bits for the Brownie lucky dip and a shopping bag which I'll keep (which I think is a good division of items).

No work as yet today, although may get a few queries from a client. I have a long list of other things to do though - the housework seems to have been neglected a bit this week - oops! Brownies (and planning meeting) this afternoon.

    MS things:
    * PA finally cleared - £25 on its way to me
    * VB surveys done last night and poll done this morning - £7.20 now
    * Ate enough at lunchtime yesterday that I just had porridge for dinner, didn't fancy much else
    * SBing ongoing. Seems to have been a code this morning - don't think it's a swag code day, but I'll take all I can get. Surveys have been shoddy lately, so think I'll try downloading some more of the apps- it's a quick and easy way to reach the target each day

    NY resolutions:
    * 10k steps yesterday! Have signed up to a solo challenge to walk around NYC today, so that should keep me motivated. Will be interesting to see how many steps I do at Brownies too.
    * Kitty playtime was good last night - lots of running around for them for a change
    * Podcast and full 20 min yoga done this morning - all good!

    Gratitudes:
    * There was such a good turn out for the funeral yesterday - truly representing the life the gentleman in question lived
    * We sang the Scout Hymn, which was new to me (written by Ralph Reader, of Gang Show fame)
    * A chance afterwards to catch up with family

Happy Friday All - I'm so glad it's the weekend tomorrow!

PS Jess - I couldn't remember the first film, but DH filled me in about the tribute to RW - a nice touch!

  • I'm glad the funeral went well, it sounds like he was well presented in the service showing what a good person he was :) It's always nice to catch up with family, I'm just sorry it was under such sad circumstances.

Well done on the Paddington win. Even though it wasn't what you expected, it sounds like it will still be good to pop on fleabay :)

Looks like you're doing well with the MS things and NY resolutions - well done! I intend to start my resolutions when we move to the new house :D

Sounds like the funeral/memorial went very well - I'm glad for you, and for your aunt. Sometimes when a funeral gives "proof" like that, it can become an incredibly positive memory.

Loving the SB - I wander on with them, trying this that and the other, and sometimes, to my surprise, it pans out :rotfl: but I'm not nearly as organised as I want to be :o Today, for instance, I've been rattling about on the Swago board, and to my surprise I've managed to fill in a whole strip (5 points or something :rotfl:) but my daily goal is more important, and I'm not yet 25% there  horrors :rotfl:!

Complete madness :) but now I have to go play swagasaurus or whatever it is, which actually becomes quite addictive :D

    Morning All!

Thanks KC. The funeral was good. Re SBs.... I've got a bit of system going now - try to complete task list (difficult if there isn't a free Discover available), aim for goal either through survey complete or watching the videos/using video apps. Once I reach the first goal, I stop. (Might add a code later, or check for another survey). I only play the games if I'm desperate for the last few bucks! Don't forget to use up your spins from Swago - I always find they give me a few extras :)

We had a good weekend; Saturday we did various bits and pieces around the house and Sunday we went for a long walk at an NT place not too far from us. Sunday afternoon we got on with stripping the wallpaper in the dining room (one of my jobs today is to book the plasterer to come and do the ceilings).

    MS things:
    * Almost a NSW - we did buy some (reduced) milk, coconut milk and Ibuprofen on Saturday, but all necessary and that was it!
    * Listed a couple more bits on ebay - one of the other items has sold (comp win) so will need to brave the weather to post it later (£5 for a pin badge, I'm pleased with that!)
    * Took a packed lunch on our walk - there's a definite sense of smug self-satisfaction about being able to stop, spread the picnic mat and enjoy a hot cuppa on a hillside away from the madding crowd (even if said madding crowd then appear from around the bend and shatter illusions of isolation and peace!)
    * OP at £11.35, YG and NV surveys done
    * S&S and FOTG submitted on time

    NY resolutions:
    * Steps: Friday: 9499; Saturday: 11,997; Sunday: 15627 - very pleased with these figures. I've made a point of going for a walk (however short) for the last 5 days and it makes a difference, whatever the weather. I won't let the grim weather put me off today (and I have that pin to post)
    * Kitty playtime: the boys now appear hopefully whenever we go into the cupboard where their frenzy rods are kept! And are learning that it's more fun to let go and chase it occasionally! (This could be an expensive resolution as they tend to destroy the attachments quickly!)
    * Yoga and podcast - 5 min yoga completed this morning, but will do 20 mins this eve. Podcast done.

    Gratitudes:
    * Such a lovely walk yesterday - really helped to rebalance me
    * Colouring - picked up my colouring book on Saturday night and enjoyed the calm it gave me
    * Productive afternoon yesterday, despite walk - giving me the motivation and belief that we can get this decorating finished!

Lots of work to do, so better get on. Happy Monday everyone!

  • The walk sounds lovely! DH and I are going to make our 'New House' resolutions as we missed New Year and have so much going on here, but we want to make some changes when we move. One is to do more walking so we're going to buy a season parking pass for Rufford Country Park (it has a lovely walk round a lake and old house, with a cafe) but I hadn't really considered looking at NT as I'm not sure what there is in Nottingham. I'll take a look and investigate what we will have on our doorstep down there. Have you found the NT membership to be worth it, and any tips on getting a pass (best time to buy or anything)?

I love how you call them frenzy rods! Our boy loves catnip filled mice but they too don't last very long. If we clip his claws before giving him a new mouse it lasts *slightly* longer.

    Hi Charly!

Love the New House resolutions - that makes perfect sense for you! Our NT membership is a product of growing up with one! There's very little around us in Herts, but we make use when we go to the Lakes and wherever we go, I try and find somewhere nearby. DH isn't keen on the houses particularly (he'll suffer them if I insist), but we make the most of the walking opportunities. From memory there's not a huge amount around Nottingham (BIL lives there), but I may not have looked very far out as if we go to visit for the day, it's plenty of driving as it is.

Flying frenzies are specific thing, although I think over here they are technically sold as Purrs in Our Hearts - http://www.purrsinourhearts.co.uk/shop/. The ends are interchangeable and made from natural fur, feathers etc. (by-products or bits of sheep's fleece) - the boys' go mad for them!

You're braver than me - I hate to think what the reaction would be to trying to clip their claws!!
