I've been a bit lax with posting lately, largely because there hasn't been much to report. I need to get the focus back a bit and get back to posting every day - it makes a difference!

Did the boot sale at the weekend and made ~£45 profit in all, which I was really pleased with. Sold the most ridiculous things, but like Kittenkirst said of hers, the books, DVDs and CDs didn't sell well at all. Most went straight to the charity shop afterwards - I've regained a spare bedroom! I did retrieve a few bits for FB/Ebay, so I need to get them listed this afternoon/evening.

Reached pay out on NV last night, so looking forward to receiving that cheque when it arrives. Almost at pay out on MM and VB too. Have shifted a couple of small bits on the Bay, so a few more pennies to add to the pot there.

Carpet was finally fitted on Friday - it looks lovely and makes us smile every time we go upstairs! It was worth the wait (and, in the end, a bargain). Annoyingly I didn't get the chance to paint the staircase woodwork once the carpet had come up (and thought it would be ok) - of course, now you can see yellow woodwork by the new carpet... some careful painting (with lots of masking tape) is now required!

While I was boot saleing, DH did some final finishing touches to hall, so now we're pretty much done. Onto the kitchen! We spent last night properly planning on Ikea's website, so have a pretty good idea of price now. Plasterer coming tonight to give us a quote and have chased plumber. Will be going to look at flooring tonight too.

    Things to be grateful for:
    * Sunshine for boot sale (it was raining when we arrived at 11... no one was setting up... 10 mins later, it was dry and there was glorious sunshine most of the afternoon!)
    * Lovely day with friends visiting yesterday and a walk in the bluebell woods near us
    * Beautiful tulips and hyacinths from friends - smell gorgeous!
    * Less than two weeks till our holiday!
    * Feeling very motivated at the moment - getting things done, projects moved forward and cramming lots in so that we can have next year (before we move) without DIY projects!

Have a good afternoon all! :)

  • That is a great boot sale profit, well done you! Keep posting, even if you don't think you have a lot to report. We all need to keep motivating each other, even if you think you've "done" nothing to help you on your journey, I am sure each day you are without even realising it ;) x

You're so right ATB - I know I need to keep posting!

KK - you wouldn't be envious if you saw the size of our kitchen! Everything is compromise as it's just too small! (And going to be even smaller as modern worktops and cupboards come out further! But it will be better than it is and it's only for a couple of years. We'll be using some of DH's winnings from work to fund it.

    MS things from yesterday:
*Paid £47.72 into OP fund yesterday from boot sale - that's all profit, so I'm really pleased :)
*Was Dad's birthday. DH sent me details of staff discount for Buyagift, so used that to buy him English Heritage membership, between me and sister (he's old now, so savings to be made there!). Saved £5 on budgeted amount. It had been looking like I'd get him an Am voucher, so pleased to find this as I'd've felt stingy with a £20 Am voucher and would have bought choc to go with it. This seemed a nicer, more considered present, so no choc needed!
    * Bought some needed clothes for holiday - looked in Fat Face for which I have a £20 voucher. No sale on and clothes were SO expensive... so saved voucher for when sale is on and bought t-shirt and shorts in M&S for less than I've have to pay for one item in FF!

    Today:
    * MOT for DH's car - should be £35 and hopefully will pass (otherwise we're a bit stuffed as mine still isn't working and is now blocking access to garage to get mini out!).
    * Friend popping round for a cuppa later
    * Mini date night with DH, checking out the local brewery (but dinner planned, so no temptation to eat out!)
    * Lots and lots of work to do.
    * Must try to list some ebay items and bump FB items

    Have a good day all!

So true KC, but I seem to have motivation at the moment and am capitalising on it! It probably won't last, but I really want to get the house finished this year so next year can be a year of relaxation and enjoyment before we move. I'm just pushing myself to get things done and make the most of the evenings - so far it's working and I'm sleeping better! (5.30 am start because kitties were scratching *new* carpet may cause me a few problems later today though!)

Make sure you keep posting MV because I love reading your diary and often wish I had your motivation! I hope those cheeky kitties leave your new carpet alone!! When we had a new landing carpet one of the dogs had the audacity to throw up on it the day after it was fitted! Lol! x

Oh Jess, you couldn't make it up - I feel your pain!

I will keep definitely keep posting, don't worry - have just felt I've been a bit wayward recently and need to refocus (not easy with a holiday coming up!). Also aware that I haven't made any OPs in months and it is likely to be another month before I do... am seriously behind on the MFW2017 target I set myself. :(

I am way behind on the target i set myself on the MFW2017 board ,i am really struggling to find any extra after savings and bills .I hadnt realised that you were planning on moving in 2019 how exciting wish it was me ,i think it will be a long time before that happens but it helps to keep me motivated with the dream of a new house .
