Great news on the debt payment, I bet it's a weight off your mind! I hope JL get back to you soon and you get some money back! Sad news about DH's friend and it really does put things into perspective. Take care xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!0 -
Hi Jess, thanks for popping by.
The manager of the carpet department at the JL store rang me last night and was truly apologetic and made me feel a lot better about the whole thing. He is also sending me £50 of voucherswhich has also gone a long way to calming me down (he did appreciate though, that what I really want is a carpet). Depending on the form this takes, it might become the wedding gift for the wedding we've got in May
Otherwise I'll use it in Waitrose.
Was pleased to discover that there's been a price drop on MyHermes deliveries, so postage for ebay sale was only £2.41 instead of the expected £2.70. Not sure how RM is going to compete tbh.
Was up early to help DH play car chess, so he could take the mini to work. I've got his car today as he's yet to check mine over properly. Being up meant I got the work I needed to finish out of the way nice and early. Have a few out and about jobs to do later, so it won't be a spend-free day, but most of it will be shopping for Brownies' Easter party later
I have joined the MFW Osprey watch
Things to be grateful for:
* Osprey web cams
* It's Friday!!
* Nice weekend at home to look forward to - no plans apart from sorting out my car
* Brownie party tonight (and end of term - phew!) (and sending out letters about a trip to see Mickey next year :j)Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Just catching up on your diary - gosh your week has been a mixed bag. I hope you get your car sorted, that must have been very scary.
Also good result with JL - I always take the view that problems/mistakes happen but if the company genuinely takes steps to resolve and compensate then I am happy with that. It is when they don't it incurs my wrath .......and nobody wants that believe me !!!
Hope you have a great weekend and enjoy your party.0 -
Totally agree BusyMee - it's how the company deals with it that makes all the difference!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

At least that was a start and if things dont resolve soon i would complain again but as you say the most important thing is that you get your carpet soon .I havent sent any parcels by MH this week ,i sold a large item via Gumtrex and it was collected so i hadnt noticed that ,i am surprised as they only just put prices up ,its very strange but good news for us sellers and the buyers too of course .Have a good day ,its lovely here again today now off for a walk with the dog .0

Sorry to hear about DH's friend ... very unusual these days, it must be so hard to take in.
Glad your weekend sounds like its a good restful one, though - enjoy, news like the above makes it even more important.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Thanks TH and KC.
A good weekend was had - low spend (£3.49 on some 'green' white spirit, bit of fuel for a drive on Sunday afternoon, and a few pounds on groceries from local shop - we had to go there anyway, would've cost more to drive elsewhere for them). Unfortunately, despite DH spending all of Saturday stripping the inlet manifold in my car and rebuilding it, it is still playing up. He's posted on forums, so hopefully someone will have some ideas. Had lovely walks both days in the sunshine. It really feels like summer is on its way.
Easter has come early here as one of my Brownies left on Friday and brought eggs for the leadersI make no qualms about the fact I'm munching my way through it already!
MS things:
* A few small bits of interest paid on various accounts (about £2.70 in total!) - transferred over to OP fund.
* Ebay sale money transferred over - OP fund now over £500.... itching to pay it but waiting to see what interest I get on RSs (maturing tonight and 6th) and whether the Ukrainians have actually paid.
* £8 web monitor reward - still to claim
* Meter readings done. I have a horrible feeling the adjustment to the DD which must be due soon won't be in our favour
* Surveys done
* Have started checking the CDs with DH to clear out any to boot sale pile
* Will get boot sale stuff out in next few days and work out what I want to get for it... 22 April is potential date
* Pulled the first rhubarb of the year and have a large crumble to enjoy
* Picked first kale from the overwintered plants - went beautifully with toad in the hole yesterday
Things to be grateful for:Fairly relaxed weekend at home with DH and lots of yummy hm meals
Easter egg from departing Brownie
2 Brownies have already confirmed they're coming to see Mickey
Mum coming for dinner (tomato risotto) tonight

Morning all! Had to get up to play car tetris this morning, so am cracking on with things.
*£163.47 interest paid on my Nw RS - transferred to OP fund (which is now huge....itching to pay it off, but in the meantime is still earning 5%)
* £25 win on PBsNot the £1M or even £500 I was hoping for, but hey-ho.
* New RS @ 5% opened straight away
* Business account checked - still no sign of Ukrainian money.... they've got until tomorrow before I call them liars (money from main client, paid Sat, hasn't hit the account yet either, so possibly just not arrived yet)
* **Still** haven't heard from RM surveys, so have sent them an email - the irony hasn't been lost on me!
* Productive survey session yesterday on MySurvey (recently reactivated account). Just got to decide what vouchers I want.
In less MS news, I'm going to see an osteopath later - I've been having problems with my sciatic nerve for a couple of weeks now and hoping she can sort me out. It'll be £40 for this consultation and £36 for future ones. She comes recommended (by my mum, who is fussy!), so hopefully this will help.
Things to be grateful for:
* Early morning walk to post box - peaceful and loads of sparrows around
* Lovely evening yesterday with mum and DH
* Because of leg/nerve, I've been standing to work most of the day - cats have come to demand a lap to cuddle on - patting me with their paws and trying to stand on laptop! Aww!
* Evening walk yesterday (even if I was in pain) - it's so nice to get out in the evenings!
Have a good day all, I'd better get on with some work!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

You're so right about it being tiring TH, although I console myself with the thought that it's probably better for me! But I am definitely hoping she can work some magic!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
