Thanks Ch4rly, yes, I was lucky that the men in my life could all turn up at short notice. The good Samaritan was very helpful too, but plenty of people ignored me, wished me luck or just walked away from the car very fast! And don't get me started on the AA men, who weren't interested at all (they said they were just drivers not mechanics, fair enough, but couldn't be bothered to come over and offer support!).Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Oh dear it really has been a very eventful weekend ,i am absolutely useless with cars ,i can drive one and thats it so would be in a right old muddle if anything went wrong with mine i have no cover either so would also have to call on one of the men in my life and hope one was nearby .Hopefully today will be less eventful and more peaceful .0

Thanks all!
It seems that the current problem may or may not have been caused by the fire, but it's unlikely it was the cause of the fire (it's idling oddly). DH will sort it out, I have faith! He's just gone to put the mini battery in his car to see if it's just a new battery that his car needs...
MSE news:
* £3 PC survey done
* Nearly finished a 600 Maximiles survey (it's been a quiet morning!)
* Biscuits baked and bread underway
* Sold two 99p items on the Bay - off to post later
* Some work lined up for tomorrow
Have had letter from TSB about RS coming to an end. So I need to work out where to put the money that's in there. Will be opening a new Nationwide RS next week, to continue transferring the money that's currently in one of those across. But it won't take more than I've already got in it.
Currently wishing for the big PB win this month!
Things I am grateful for (a selection from the weekend!):
* Car fire wasn't worse
* Good Samaritans
* DH's technical expertise
* DH working from home
* Cuddles with a different niece
* Ice cream and a nice walk
* Gorgeous sunshine all weekend
ETA: Meant to be starting my RM surveys training today... not heard anything yet thoughRidiculously excited about this!

Hmm.... still no luck with cars... DH's needs more than a new battery and we'll have to order the part.

Sorry to hear about the cars and I hope they get sorted soon, without much cost! How do you make your bread, do you do it all by hand or do you have one of those bread makers? Thought I might give it a go but I'm only good at baking simple things! Lol! xMortgage Balance as of July 2025 £14,900.
Starting Mortgage Balance (June 2019) £72,000.
Aiming to be mortgage free by my 40th birthday, June 2026!0 -
Thanks Jess! I hope so too.
I make my bread by hand - following Dan Lepard's method, which doesn't involve much kneading at all (but does take a bit longer). I find it very straightforward
Not a lot to report today: some work done, plenty of surveys done, reached £5 Am voucher on SBs but haven't cashed it in yet (am thinking about what to do with it), won £5 voucher from Gfk TV survey... also haven't cashed it in; £10 in PC account, haven't cashed it in.... can you see a theme here? Nearly at payout on Prolific too.
DH took the train to work this morning - he should be home soon so we'll go to look at the cars.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Hadn't considered it would be good for arthritis! It's dead simple and all his recipes are 'virtually no-knead'.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days
