Finally I have a mortgage I can start to pay off!

Morning all,
Another work-packed day ahead, but I do plan to get out for a walk today (assuming the weather cooperates). Need to do my evening class homework (left to the last minute again! 🙄) too before we head out this evening.
Have sent two of my outstanding invoices this morning, but still awaiting a PO. This month's pay (and next month's as Americans are slow to pay) will be so much healthier - it's much needed given moving costs.
£4.07 TCB paid into account this morning, so I've split that between anniversary pot and chimney pot. DH also pays £8 more into the account our mortgage is taken out of, so have returned that to the joint account. For the last couple of months he's been paying the increased mortgage amount into the joint a/c so that's building up nicely - we'll use it to pay for the home insurance, which of course we need to pay on exchange (and which is set to be an extortionate amount).
MS things:
* Clicks done and comps entered
* 50p PA survey done last night
* Dinner in last night (although we'll rearrange with friends at some point)
* Collecting some strawberries and raspberries from Olio friend later and some bread from another Olioer (there, that's one walk planned in)
* Our lunches yesterday were entirely free apart from some butter for DH (not that mine was in any way healthy, but his was at least!)
Gratitudes:
* Friend who cancelled dinner on us is OK
* Caught up with Olio friend (virtually) and have booked her and her husband in for dinner
* The sun is shining!

Yes I also want to hear re your vinted experience as I have a couple clothes items on ebay and no takers.
Mum having had 3 scammers approach her through Gumtree this week on 4 items! - she luckily has avoided being scammed but the parcel2go link was a scam and another 'buyer' wanted her to pay the insurance upfront ! (she was selling) So any Gumtree sellers out there, insist on cash only on collectionDON'T BUY STUFF (from Frugalwoods)
No seriously, just don’t buy things. 99% of our success with our savings rate is attributed to the fact that we don’t buy things... You can and should take advantage of discounts.... But at the end of the day, the only way to truly save money is to not buy stuff. Money doesn’t walk out of your wallet on its own accord.

Afternoon all,
Hi NG! 🙋♀️ No date for the move yet as we are waiting on our survey, which is scheduled for Friday. It's been lovely having a bit of a break from endless calls from people, but the stress of being in limbo is hard (more opportunity for us to worry about making the wrong decision! Which, of course, we're not!).
Re Vinted, had someone make an offer for £4 on an item I'd listed for £5. Have refused it for now (it's a pair of jeans I bought on Ebay that weren't right for me - I think I paid £6 + P&P so would like £5 really).
In the end, I missed my evening class and stayed for dinner last night. I realised that Indian restaurants are a bit too laid back, especially with a large-ish group, so I was never going to get a starter and get back in time. I was glad I stayed though - it was really great to catch up with the friends and hear their thoughts on moving to Norfolk. It's a bit of a wish for them rather than reality at the moment, but I think there's hope they may do it. What was more annoying was that DH and I kept an eye on the budget (neither of us drank and I only had water) and yet at the end the bill was just split. So we paid £54 for a meal that we'd only spent £35 on. DH did bring his leftovers home with him. I think if all the food had actually been eaten it wouldn't have been so bad, but you know what people are like at Indian restaurants - so there was quite a bit of waste too! (And another person ordered loads and took it home, so we've subsidised his meals for today!) 😡
Didn't sleep at all well last night and feeling a bit meh this morning. Dropped DH at the station at 8.50 this morning and he'll be back late tonight. Went to collect my Olio collection and there wasn't anything (despite a message saying there was). Have been cracking on with work this morning as there's a deadline looming later. Am close to finishing that project for today though, although there's another two bits for my main client to do. I have got the oil-filled radiator in with me today - I think not feeling well has meant my body isn't wanting to keep itself warm!
MS things:
* Clicks done
* Comps entered
* Have faffed around to withdraw £10 from Wm H1ll as there was a small balance in there that I just don't need in there (am thinking when I move, I may be able to restart MBing with new card and new address - they won't know it's me, will they?!). When it arrives it'll get allocated to one of my many savings pots!
* About to have breakfast for lunch as I haven't felt hungry all morning (and am trying to listen to what my body says about needing food) - with free fresh raspberries from yesterday's Olio collection
Gratitudes:
* Sunshine
* Lovely to see friends last night
* No plans for this evening, so I can spend the whole day doing things as I want!

Moving house is never straight forward! Try and unwind whilst it is the early stages😊
I used Vinted recently, but as a buyer rather than a seller, as well as Depop (I’m probably the oldest person on that one 😂). Generally they are fine with the odd annoyance (as with eBay it all rules in the buyers favour), but often it’s good to ask a question on them and if you get a quick response it’s generally a good thing). Depop reviews are completely useless because sellers can delete any they don’t like and so everyone has 5 stars 🤷♀️They do seem quite variable with some people not selling for months and others selling quite quickly. I have to say I couldn’t be bothered to list on either and even took a couple of things off eBay. DD is keeping me awake so much that my eyes physically hurt now and so I decided unless it is a fair bit of money, I prefer time and everything has been going to charity or my local buy nothing group.Probably good time for listing things generally as it’s the run up to Xmas now. eBay was very quiet over the summer.2025 decluttering: 5,121 🌟🥉🌟💐🏅🏅🌟🥈🏅🌟🏅💐💎🌟🏅🏆🌟🏅🌟🌟2025 use up challenge: 363🥉🥈🥇💎🏆Mini freezer challenge -1/-20Big kitchen declutter challenge 121/1502025 decluttering goals I Use up Challenge: 🥉365 🥈750 🥇1,000 💎2,000 🏆 3,000 👑 8,000 I 🥉12 🥈26 🥇52 💎 100 🏆 250 👑 5003 -
Morning all,
Thanks for popping by QueenJess. Sadly, it's not so much the early stages as we've ended up doing things backwards. Hoping the survey won't bring up any new surprises - the previous purchasers pulled out after the survey, but this issues that were there are being fixed under insurance (and actually probably wouldn't have put us off - an escape of water was labelled as damp - the two are quite different I feel!). It's mainly too much thinking time, although I read some stuff yesterday (for work, but actually about mental health/well-being) that has made me feel far more confident in trusting our instincts.
Jess, having just read your update, not ebaying/vinteding (?) is highly recommended for you at the moment. You've got to do what you can, when you can and your time for that will come! Hope you get more sleep soon.
Continuing with the busy work period today. Picked up my hoodie from Vinted last night and very pleased with it. The buying process seems quite straightforward, although you do pay the fees on top of the listed price (saves the seller having to). Still no takers on my bits though (have adjusted the price slightly) - although lots of 'favourites' on the jeans - very frustrating!
MS things:
* NV survey
* YG survey (and have just signed up for YG Direct, which seems to be a new thing where you can cash out after £2!)
* MM surveys - think I've reached enough for a £25 voucher now, need to check (will get a JL/WR voucher for when we move (there's a WR in the town)
* Dinner (for me only) was a stir fry that used up various bits including free baby corn; tonight's will be sausage and mash using up free potatoes
* 1P surveys (one asked about how often I do 'environmentally friendly' things in a week - a stupid question because much like money saving, it's so ingrained you don't think about it (I do know 1P ask much stupider questions!)!
* Comps entered
* Clicks done (but still nary a free spin from L4dbr0kes so I think they've sussed me)
* Pick the poor harvest of apples from our poor little apple tree - will make a small crumble with them (hopefully!) - new house has a biiig apple tree, so looking forward to better harvests in the future
Gratitudes:
* A quiet night in for both of us tonight
* Plenty of work
* A good night's sleep
Have a good day all!

Forgot to say, I've picked up another cat sitting job for next week (new customer). Am also doing the RM correctly delivered survey starting Monday.

Just spotted your comment about MB ing after moving. Sadly I'm not sure it'll work - new card and address, but still same name and DOB, and a lot of them use passport as ID etc now 🙄 Might work though but you'd be breaking multi accounting rules, which I think would give them the right to confiscate winnings (which would obviously not just be winnings as you'd lose at the exchange). Worth investigating though.6

Oh well, it was worth the thought! I haven’t signed up to most of them yet anyway, so there’ll be more to do if I do want to go back to it… can’t see it being top of the list anyway! Thanks for pointing that out though Cheery 😊Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

I have a yen to do MBing again, but I've joined so many, and lost such a high percentage of the log in details, I'd be in schtuck. I'm useless using horses and tennis too. So it's probably the Happy Wheel for me, if I manage to do it.2023: the year I get to buy a car6
