Morning all,
Sorry Greent, in my brain fog I forgot to say 'hi!' and wow, you're brave/mad, reading all of that! I did read your diary several years ago from the beginning but don't think I said anything - I do pop by now and then
Cath, I know what you mean - there's definitely an element of where has the year gone, even though it's dragged and nothing has happened (but lots actually has!). But I'm counting down to the 21st and the nights becoming lighter. I always do - it gives me something to look forward to (yes, I know there's Christmas, but it's not always an easy time of year for me (juggling divorced parents etc.)). Still not sleeping well and emotionally all over the place, so really looking forward to the New Year, lighter evenings, the vaccination programme really getting underway and something planned which should start to sort out the 'stuff' that's not helping.
I've had a few bits of work over the last week which has been nice. Of course, I have plenty of other things I should be doing instead - isn't it always the way! Meeting a friend for a walk and lunch at NT property this morning. Looking forward to it. Zero-waste shop on the way back for a few bits and then family quiz tonight.

Sorry you're struggling, madvix, and the time of year/family issues is making it worse. Here's another positive bit: from now until just after the solstice, the conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn is the biggest for 800 years
How to watch the Jupiter and Saturn 'great conjunction' of 2020 | Astronomy | The Guardian I confess I haven't tried to see it yet, but I'll be out just after dark tomorrow,
And wow! Fantastic news on the railways! Thank you for clueing me in on that. And I signed up to the newsletter from Thrive Renewables.
Not long now till the Solstice, and things get easier after that, even though its a bit colder - it will be lovely.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
I'm with you in looking forward to the winter solstice - it always feels as though we've climbed the hill and it's easier going from then on. When we moved here in 2017 the winter was awful - so much flooding and snow. It was so grim I checked the charts every day to see how many more minutes of daylight we would get tomorrow 😆 I came across this post at the time and it really resonated with me and made me think about the season differently... sometimes though only a glass of Baileys and a chocolate truffle helps 😂

Also looking forward to ever so slightly longer days... so much!4

Apparently it changes at about 2 minutes per day - so almost quarter of an hour a week. We'll be noticing it in no time 😀
And then annoyed at having light evenings but still nowhere to go....🤣!Mortgage start: £65,495 (March 2016)

Afternoon all,
Glad I'm not alone in looking for the light. Karma, I'd read about that - it's supposed to be brightest on Monday although it's clear today, so hopefully might be visible.
Fortune, thanks for sharing that post. Unfortunately I'm not sure it's going to help me much at the moment, but I can see it would in a normal year - I certainly agree with the slowing down and hibernating approach.
SC - lighter evenings mean longer out of the house on walks, things growing and a sense that spring is coming, whether there's anywhere to go or not (definitely the latter currently as we've just been placed into Tier 3). I usually notice it the second week in January - it doesn't take longMortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Morning all,
Just a quick update to say I've been feeling much better over the last week (catch up with friend really helped). We're in Tier 4 and now have quite a bit of food to eat and no guests to share it with. Am freezing what can be frozen, sharing what can't and hoping to nab a big turkey at reduced cost to feed the cats for a while (have freezer space fortunately!). Bring on 2021!
MS things:
* Clicks done sometimes...
* Cashback received
* Bought niece's birthday present second-hand (although this was mainly for the purposes of not buying new plastic!)
Gratitudes:
* We put up a proper tree and the cats haven't eaten it/chewed the lights/knocked it over!
* Riverford deliveries
* At least we're still able to meet someone else for a walk
Off to meet mum for a hot choc and walk, must dash x

Good to hear from you madvix - I didn't realise you'd be in Tier 4, what a shame. Glad you're feeling better now (and brilliant idea to get turkey for the cats! They'll love it).
All the best for Christmas.2023: the year I get to buy a car5 -
Thanks Karma! The cats normally get a good few weeks of Turkey meals from our usual Christmas turkey. This year we didn't get offered a Christmas delivery slot, so had to get much smaller (and it would have been smaller anyway) turkey breast from R'ford, which is stuffed so not suitable for cats. But especially with the last minute changes we're pretty sure we'll be able to get a large one to cook and freeze, so they'll enjoy that
