Very interesting! I knew about the concurrency, but not about the redeployment. Frankly, the effect on me is to long for the climate crisis to be taken as seriously. Imagine (courtesy of John Lennon

ETA - madvix, how nice to have a new walk installed around the NT perimeter - the perimeters are often very interesting, I think, the way the two areas transition.2023: the year I get to buy a car3 -
Afternoon all,
You’re right about the perimeter walk Karma, it was really interesting and extended out into the farmland at points and gave me a new perspective on the estate - literally and figuratively as I hadn’t really thought about the fact that the woodland belt surrounding the estate was planted by Capability Brown as part of his design to give a backdrop. Really interesting.
Disaster here this weekend though - kitchen drain blocked, backed up and flooded kitchen floor underneath the vinyl which was laid on hardboard. So we’ve unblocked the drain (drains are terrible here, badly designed - were very careful not to put fat down but this is the second time in eight years we’ve had problems). Carefully lifted vinyl flooring (involves removing all the drawers in the kitchen, and dishwasher, fridge and washing machine (once drain was unblocked we finished load and ran dishwasher). Then removed hardboard and now kitchen is drying out with oil filled radiator and fan heater... might take a couple of days. Then we have to put it all back together with new hardboard, of course. So on top of takeaway fest for DH’s birthday, yesterday was takeaway too while we sorted it out. Kitchen is now a bit tidier so looking forward to stir fry tonight! Hopefully the cost won’t be huge but the inconvenience is a bit of a pain.
In other news, I’m about to collect an order of Christmas lights from B&q for the garden - some festive cheer for our outside socialising!

What a nightmare @themadvix. I hate it when the house is upset. Sounds as though you have the situation under control though.

Afternoon all,
Thanks Fortune, Karma and Jessy. Agreed Fortune, it's the totally the disruption (and lack of dishwasher!) that causes the most grief. We have at least now got it sorted so that basic cooking is doable.
The kitchen is looking much drier today, so I think we're getting there. Slight problem is that DH has hurt his back and is really struggling with pain. He's called his work-provided health cover and they've booked a virtual appointment for him for Saturday (with an in-person one tba after that). Not great!
Work is still deathly quiet, although some of that is caused by Thanksgiving etc. in America. Pay was OK for this month (and I managed to reduce it a little and still have enough to cover the bills), but next month is going to be rather under. *Lots* of PA surveys/cat sitting (ha!) needed. I've done my invoicing and paid myself this morning - shuffles will wait till tomorrow to catch the right calendar month. I also need to shift the money out of TSB and into somewhere paying some interest. Have initiated the withdrawal of my tax bill money from PB, but it'll stay in for the next draw.
MS things:
* Clicks done
* PA survey
* YG survey
Gratitudes:
* DH has private health cover
* I avoided the rain when I popped out this morning
* Nice email conversations with my client this morning

Morning all,
Has a really low day yesterday, quite teary and for no obvious reason. Even meeting mum and enjoying a chocolate orange hot choc didn’t cheer me up (used mum’s BOGOF voucher). Things did improve when I got home and saw DH had roughly put up the Christmas lights in the garden. I spent the late afternoon (in the dark) putting them up properly and they are so cheery 😊
I’ve also realised that one of the major projects I was working on before Covid was the tourism one for California, which obviously hasn’t returned. That was an ongoing project and would have contributed considerably to my income this year, so I think taking that into account would considerably boost my evidence for being able to claim SEISS 3. I feel better knowing that that is an option. However, I managed to snag a small project last night and another this morning, and have had an email from a long-ago client, so maybe things will pick up yet.
Today I will be purchasing hardboard to replace the kitchen floor. DH wants to stick it down a bit at a time so he can weight it properly so it doesn’t lift (we had a minor lifting problem after laying it the first time, which we lived with). So it’ll take a few days before it’s all relaid and we can put vinyl back down - but at least we’re on the way. Various other jobs and shopping to do but imagine it’s going to be chaos out there, so will see how the day goes.
Have a good day all, remember, we will get through this.Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Afternoon all,
A much better day today. I slept well for the first time in ages and can really feel the difference (enough energy to get out of bed and go for a run!). Also managed to pick up several bits of work from the platform, so spent this morning actually earning some money - when they've all cleared I think I'll be over the payout threshold for the month. In less exciting news, no PB win this month...
Have been and bought the hardboard, and it didn't look too chaotic out there. Tomorrow I'll venture to the zero-waste shop town and try to do some Christmas shopping bits.
MS things:
* Clicks done
* Actual work!
* 1P surveys
Gratitudes:
* First Christmas card arrived today and it's from a lady I used to work with who I knew had moved but didn't have a new address for - *so* pleased she's written, because I really didn't want to lose touch with her
* Sarah Millican's never-ceasing support when I run!
* DH for putting those lights up yesterday afternoon
* Family quiz tonight - looking forward to it

Hiya madvix - sorry things were so rough for you yesterday, it sounds like it ended well, but the body of the day was awful
Travel ... I miss it so much! And to be *working* on a tourism project must be great - what a shame it's disappeared
Just visualising you briefly with a choccy orange hot drink, surrounded by fairy lights and having a zoom convo with familythere we go
