Hi all,
We had a great time in Vienna - it's a really beautiful city. So much ornate architecture and virtually no high-rise buildings (I gather it wasn't really bombed much during the war). The markets were not as good as some we've been to in terms of variety (although still good and lovely food!), but the city itself more than made up for it (and we were only there just over 48 hours, so no chance of getting bored). We'd definitely go back - but probably not for the markets.
We brought back some cash, largely because the parents-in-law took us out for dinner on the Thursday night, which was lovely of them. Sorted a few presents while we were there too. I also bought a rolling pin that imprints trees onto biscuit dough. I had a go yesterday but the biscuits all rose in the oven and completely lost their patterning. The recipe used sr flour - anyone have any ideas for non-sr-flour biscuit recipes (most seem to have a raising agent of some sort in)? Would just using plain flour result in revolting biscuits?
It's been a busy weekend as DH was on a stag do on Saturday (very low key, so not too expensive - just dinner and drinks and train fare) and I met up with Sis, niece and cousins for a Christmassy get-together (we'll see each other over Christmas, but it's nice to catch up without the 'grown ups' around!! :rotfl: ). Yesterday, in a record time, I wrote all our Christmas cards and they've all been sent (1st class - I cringe at what people will think of me :rotfl: but they used my RM survey stamps - only a tiny fraction of them too!). We also put our decorations up.
I've come back to an avalanche of work, so have been cracking on with that this morning and have a few other jobs to do. A man is coming about midday to fix the garage door.... I think you may see reference to this in the first pages of my diary.... it's only taken 6.5 years to get around to doing something about it!:rotfl: We're out tonight catching up with a friend over a curry. It's banquet night, but I'm just going to order a normal meal and share DH's extras.
MS things:
* RM Correctly delivered survey starts today
* Clicks etc. done - I seem to be at payout with VB, so hopefully that will be processed soon
* Lots and lots of work!
* HM Christmas presents have been progressed
* Cat chicken to be ordered using £20 off voucher from Costco
Gratitudes:
* A lovely few days in Wien
* Good family time with cousins
* Cats haven't destroyed pallet Christmas tree yet.... although a cuphook and decoration do seem to have disappeared!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

It really does, and eating out at a nice restaurant there sounds great too. Interesting about the market (and the rolling pin - but I have no feedback for you, sorry!).
The cousins thing without the "grownups" being present - I can relate to that :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Vienna sounds lovely, I did pay a brief visit there about 20  years ago, and remember it having beautiful architecture. I'd like to visit again with the family.
I like the sound of your rolling pin, I've seen them on pinterest and the biscuits always look so pretty. How about making a gingerbread?Mortgage March 2011 £143,927.6
