Morning all,
DH off to speak at an event in Birmingham this morning, so it was an early start! In need of a second cuppa, I think.
Have spoken to dear old HMRC. Apparently the bank account details were *still* wrong, so the money was still going round in circles. It makes you wonder when, if ever, they'd have contacted me about it! Anyway, the guy said it shouldn't take 5 weeks this time, so here's hoping!
Am popping out with Mum this morning to an auction house - they are going to auction some of the bits from Nan's house, but this is just a valuation morning. Work is quite quiet, so I thought I'd go along to see what happens.
Yesterday I began some preliminary research into our future plans - all online stuff, but it looked quite promising and one of the organisations seems supportive. I've also started reading up on chicken care
MS things:
* SBs, VB and MS rewards done
* No PA surveys as yetbut keeping checking
* Registered on Cat in a Flat as a cat sitter - we'll see what happens with that!
* Mentioned to a client that I'd be open to doing something I've said no to in the past (voice recording stuff, urgh, hate the sound of my voice!)
* Returned library books (didn't quite avoid fine as we were away, but minimised the cost!)
* Load of washing has just finished - to be put on the line!
Gratitudes:
* DH does seem to get *less* stressed about public speaking than he used to (think I'm more nervous on his behalf now)
* Sunshine
* Gloriously golden leaves on the trees I can see from my window here
Have a good day all! (I haven't forgotten the pic!)

Morning all!
I think I'm getting a coldThat aside, things are going well. I've received a £5 no minimum spend voucher from the garden centre for use this weekend, so will go see what plants I can buy this time. SBs is ticking away merrily in the background - thanks for the tip Karma, it's amazing how good it can be when it actually works!
I've got a phone call with CatinaFlat scheduled for lunchtime, so that will be interesting. By speaking to them on the phone it gives you a bit more credibility (shows on your profile). It'll be interesting to see if anything comes of it - there are several already listed for around here, plus a couple of local pros and a few catteries. I guess there are lots of cats though!
MS things:
* £2 L2S vouchers received from RM survey yesterday
* 10p PA survey
* SBs, MS rewards and VB done/doing - aiming for another voucher from SBs imminently.
* DH had leftovers for tea last night (and Dad might have bought me fish and chips)
* Washing dried beautifully on the line last night
* Redcurrant vodka bottled for GMIL for Christmas - it's a lovely colour
* Brownie expenses cheque cleared (paid in Weds, wahoo for faster clearing!) and paid off cc - free miles!
* No heating since first thing this morning
Gratitudes:
* A lovely evening looking at Dad's amazing holiday pics
* Fish & chips
* Interesting visit to auction valuers and toasted tea cake at mum's
Have a good Friday everyone!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Wow that must have been quite an experience, I can help wondering why they the hold the car run in November instead of summer thoughMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0
-
The run always takes place on the first Sunday in November as this is when the first one was held is 1896 to celebrate/mark the abolition of the law that all motorised vehicles had to have a pedestrian, flag-carrying escort walking in front of them. The speed limit changed at the same time to 14 mph from 4 mph. A red flag (like those carried by the escorts) is always symbolically torn in half at the beginning of each year's run.
To be honest, I think in hot weather it would have the potential to be just as unpleasant as there's no shelter from the sun either!Mortgage free 16/06/2023! £132,500 cleared in 11 years, 3 months and 7 days

Themadvix - I have just worked out your name thanks to Newgirly! I'm such a dope sometimes!Choose kind0

Things do sound good (apart from the cold, I hope its an illusion caused by dust or something
). Interesting about the London to Brighton run too, I'd no idea why it was November. Nor have I any idea about your name

Hazelnutty - not a dope, it's got options in terms of divisions!
It's very old now and I wish it was a bit more anonymous, but hey ho!
Newgirly - the cars are amazing, and it is so weird to think about the people that must have sat in the car before me, making exactly the same journey. The world has changed so much in the last 100 years (as we were reminded yesterday).
Karma - your hope worked, I had one dose of cold and flu stuff and the sniffles disappeared!Thank you!
