Anglian windows how much should I expect to pay?

We recently had 2 'normal' size windows fitted by local company and they cost £900.00. Very pleased with windows & fitting.0

Another one saying AVOID Anglian like the plague. They are shockers, will charge you whatever price they can get away with and sit there till you cave in. Do a forum search on Anglian and read well. They had a good go at defrauding my 88 yr old MIL. Shame on them:

It's shocking how 1 company can provoke so much negativity and still be in business! I canceled the appointment as I didn't want to waste everyone's time!
What do you reckon of safestyle UK?No seriously!

Your a bit mad aren't you, or on a wind up.0 -
I was being a bit cheeky.
but I'm interested to know of experiences of another big company like safestyle.
I know you have to be firm with the salesrep until you get the right price but apart from that?0 -
We've just had 4 windows fitted by a small local company, 2 of them had to have some safety glass in as they sit low and they have georgian bars in 2 of them, they cost us £1200. (however it was mates rates). I think your £1400 may be a little low as you say you need a door and I know doors cost quite a bit more. I would definitly be ringing around local companies and steering away from the big companies, just not worth the hassel when you read reviews.0

Why bother? It's a waste of an afternoon/evening. At the end of it you won't get a price (or service) that matches a good, reliable, local builder, who wouldn't put you through the same rigmarol, but instead come in, look at the job, give you a genuine price that they would charge you if you used them and let you take it or leave it. (Your biggest problem using a reliable local firm could well be actually getting them over to give you a quote, because they're rushed off their feet!)
Companies like Anglian, Everest etc etc don't make their money from installing windows. They make money from selling product at wildly inflated prices due to unpleasant 'wear 'em down, they'll cave in' selling techniques. Life is too short, and they'll rob you of hours of your life that you'll never get back.Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
I had 5 different companies out to give me quotes for 7 windows, front and back door.
£4,780
£3,475
£3,330
£2,950
£2,270
After a haggle the company who originally said £3,330 has went down to £2,600.
Hope this helps..... x x x0 -
I went through this a few years ago. I got a couple of big double glazing companies over (can't remember which now) - they sent a salesman who was more interested in showing me their little model window than actually looking at the job to be done, quoted me some ridiculous price, then said he could drop it to a price that was just silly if I accepted there and then. I refused to do that.
Then I contacted a local glass company, who sent someone out to measure up, then sent a quote in the post. No discounts, no time limits, but much cheaper than the "discounted" quotes I'd had before. I accepted it and they did a great job.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning0 -
Perhaps if you say where you are,you might vget some recommendations?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
