As someone mentioned - It is vital -
NEVER LET THEM SEE YOU DOWN!
Have you ever heard the saying -
Fake it 'till you make it?
Thats what you have to do.
To tackle people like this requires confidence. If you havent gained that now, you will do as you age.
I could give you a way to get back at them and wind them right up, but i dont want you to stoop to their level. Although the results are fascinating and it works all the time lol just thinking about it reminds me of all the times ive used it against pri**s like them for people im sticking up for usually in my team.0 -
Fake it 'till you make it?
As I have grown and learnt I have found 3 mantra's in my life.
One is "actions speak louder than words",
the second is "kids come first"
the third is "don't let the !!!!!!!s grind ya down"
and now I have found my forth "Fake it 'till you make it" Love it.
So jamiehec I hope you feeling bit better than when you made your first post. Chin up.0 -
Dear jamiehec, Please do not let these so-and-so's' grind you down. Do your job well (and cause more offence - I jest, but you are dealing with small-minded soap-opera fans), since office politics are on-a-par with childishness. Pass your probation period and the world is your oyster, - Jealousy is also an issue, I've been there, wrote the book, that is now why I am self-employed. Good Luck!!!0

Dear jamiehec, Please do not let these so-and-so's' grind you down. Do your job well
!
"Queries" is spot on! Jamiehec do your job well. And if you can get to a point where you are so good at your job, trust me, no back stabbers can touch you. Meantime, try act cool, and inbetweentime learn as much as you can. Yes it will be tough but do not throw the towel in. Do not let them win. I am so glad you made your post because so many of us have been in a similar situation and Jamiehec you have got a lot of support on this forum. Hope things work out okay for you.0 -
OP, I went through the same thing when I got my first I.T role, the people whom was supposed to help me was in a clique and they kept laughing at me making me feel small writing emails about me saying I was crap at my job ect ect.
Anytime testing needed to be done late at night they would always make me do it using the excuse that I have a car.
One day I had enough I could feel myself getting ill so I turned around and said to the main trouble maker "Can you forward me a copy of that joke your sending" and the cheeky so and so sent it me and I forwarded it straight to HR.
2 years later and guess what yes I got the lead Analyst job and they have to report to me.
Basically what I am saying is I suffered for months and I didn't know what to do, my manager at the time didn't support me as she was apart of the clique too and involving HR was my only option I knew I was in for a bumpy ride but I also knew that I deserved to be there and I was not going to let nasty piece's work make me walk.
keep your head up hun please find away to let HR help you and or if you can get a copy of the email they sent, remember all emails are monitored more so if flagged. It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
It's not nice for you, but give it time. They may have wanted a friend of theirs for the job but it got offered to you instead, but they'll get over it. Keep your head down and crack on.0

First of all - ask yourself things like - am I making an effort, am I creating extra work for them, do I look scruffy, do I smell, etc..
Aside from that, it does sound like they are a rather juvenille. Rise to the challenge - make sure you are doing better quality work than them, go the extra mile for the users that you are supporting, get more support calls closed than them, be more confident on the phone than them, make sure you are getting noticed by the boss as being more pro-active than them, study for your IT exams and pass them.0 -
@ jamiehec
If you see ya name in there email then you make sure you let them know that you know...
seeing the boss could be another option... but that can BACKFIRE big time
i would confront them about it, what are you a man or a mouse ?
take no !!!!!! from work, see the boss first and if that doesn't work then confront the person you're self. this isn't school come on.

It's not about manning up everyone is different and reacts to things in different ways.
Some people think of the consequences first like possibly having fear of losing their jobIt's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun0 -
losing their job? yea ok fair enough, but somehting like that in a 'work environment' is uncalled for.
Jame needs to see the boss first.
