Moving house...

Hello all, I'm new to this forum although I have used MSE for a while now. I came here with my current predicament as I was unsure about how best to deal with the situation at hand... Basically, I will be moving out this month; my friend and I are getting a house together elsewhere, to save money and for just the fun of living together. The problem is this, I am moving from my own place, and have Virgin, I have cancelled, no problem. He however, lives with his parents and has recently (3 months ago) taken out a BT Vision, BT infinity and the obvious line rental (in his name). We have both agreed we'd rather not have BT, as Virgin is available where we're moving to. BT have said to him, that the best they can do if he was moving would be to remove BT Vision and he can just take out a 12 month contract for internet. They also said they don't yet know if they can supply Infinity to him, with it only just being rolled out. I told him to say to them that they are clearly voiding their contract terms to supply said service to him, so, he did. They told him no, because apparently with BT you take out two contracts or something, and as they could supply him with just ADSL broadband, that he was still tied into it... Can anyone shed any light on this, because we do not want BT if possible, and being forced onto (rubbish) ADSL broadband seems to be off in my eyes... Pre-emptive thanks to anyone that can help.

    A) could you provide a link explaining what all the packages are.
    B) they are only contracted to provide you infinity at the address it was taken out at.
    C) infinity is subject to abailibliityt at the new address. if not then he will go to an adsl
    D) you dont make it clear where hje had infinity, why he was happy with the service until now and what has changed that he isnt happy with the service.

BT are not in breach of anything, they are not obliged to provide Infinity at every address the UK. If he is in an existing contract then presumably they will supply a downgrade to line rental, BTV and ADSL broadband at the new address. If he declines this option then ETC's willl be payable on the remaining term at the old address.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
