Broken wedding ring

Hi. I haven't posted on here before (although have had a peek on a number of occasions for advice and idea's!) But today I was so upset I thought I'd take the plunge and ask for some advice.
I got married in August and bought my wedding ring from online diamond store who promised a 5 year guarantee. A couple of weeks ago it snapped, and I sent it back as instructed and the outcome was that it broke due to "extremely heavy wear and tear". I imagine most people plan to wear their wedding rings for life and rarely take them off, I've only been wearing it for 7 months (and I certainly don't do anything "heavy" with it on!) and I feel the design or manufacture of the ring makes it not fit for purpose. Is there a way anyone can think of that I can argue this???
Any idea's would be gratefully received as obviously I'm quite distraught

If it's over six months old, you will need to pay for an independent review to assess whether your ring broke due to 'extremely heavy wear and tear' or whether it was poorly made in the first place.
I should imagine that a decent independent jewellers will be happy to do this for you at a small cost. If they, like you, believe that the ring was poorly made, use this written proof to approach the original retailer once again and ask for a remedy (refund, repair or replacement) under the SOGA. They're also obliged to refund you for the cost of the review.
If the review concludes that you do indeed spend the best part of your day going at your wedding ring with a chainsaw, then you'll have to accept defeat. But I'm pretty confident it won't.
Like you, I think it's highly unlikely that 7 months of wear will have damaged your wedding ring. They're meant to be worn all the time, fgs!"Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
Is it just a band or something more fancy?0
