OH volunteered to go to Lidl to recce the offers as he wanted milk. Our local Lidl has been known to put frozen special offers out early and I've got quite a list for next weekend.

yea thats right, the frozen and fresh "while stocks last" items tend to come in on a wednesday, sometimes a tuesday and get put out right away.

Turkey steaks is a good choice, I wouldn't mind those soon.
About time the olive oil was half-price, especially as it's on offer in most supermarkets at the minute, 17p chocolate would not come amiss either.

I picked up some Filippo Berio EV olive oil at Morrisons on Saturday for 1.99 for 500ml and am keeping that for salads and using the Lidl stuff for cooking. Always snap up offers on olive oil whenever I see them so never pay more than £4/ltr. When we were able to give up the soya mince and buy actual mince, we switched from vegetable oil to olive oil. I feel it's so much healthier than processed oils.

They had a blind taste test in the Times magazine and the standard Lidl extra virgin came out very well indeed and is probably better quality than the Fillipo stuff. Apparently you should look at the harvest date and most recent is best:)

They also pointed out that many olive oils are quite heavily processed, some use rotting olives and then have to treat the oil to remove the rancid smell. Very good article

We had some Italian friends who owned a restaurant and they swore by the Lidl olive oil. They bought cases of it when it was on offer.

Turkey breast steaks is also my choice (Newcastle), hopefully I'll get a few packs plus some carrots.
