  • John Lewis have lowered their 16gb Ipad 2 to £329.00 also, and you get a free 2 year guarantee included.

...thanks for that...also in black at same price. 2% cash back through Quidco:T
  • Have been waiting to buy one but am having difficulty deciding on 16,32 or 64. I expect the whole family will be using it and specifically want to download some apps for my 4 year old autistic son as he is non verbal but loves anything computer based. I was going to go for a 32 but do I need a 64? My DH wants to play games on it and my DD1 would like to play music videos and films. Any assistance appreciated.

As far as I know, Apple are planning to continue selling both the current and new model like they do with the iPhone. So the lower price isn't really a grabbit, just the new selling price. A reduction is always good though. :)

The apps don't take up a lot of space. But note that the preloaded stuff (operating system, etc) takes up quite a bit of space and can't be deleted. I have a 32gb iPod Touch and that only has 22gb available space for my own use.

I have about 20 apps loaded (half of which are games) and it has only used just over 1gb of space. Music, I have nearly 1000 tracks loaded and it takes up just over 5gb. So still have over 15gb free.

I don't use video so can't specifically comment, but it will depend whether she wants to stream from youtube or upload video files to the pod as the former won't use space but will use your bandwidth/data allowance so be careful if these have caps.

I was gonna buy IPAD2 last week but saw an article online and postponed my decision. Apple announced IPAD3 on 08th March and I pre-ordered Ipad 3rd generation from Apple Costed me same as IPAD2 would have costed a week back. Recieved the dispatch email from APPLE. so a surprise gift for my husband on this anniversary but who will actually use it at home:cool:

There is an excellent communication tool on the App store called Proloquo2go - very expensive at £130 but might be worth a look. The symbols used are the same as are used in schools to help children with communication difficulties. The child can choose a symbol, or even build a sentance and the tool will "speak" for him. I also have a non-verbal autistic child and try to give him him as many tools to communicate as possible.

I'd suggest buying through John Lewis instead of apple. Includes 2 year extended warranty AND one episode of accidental damage. I bought iPad 2 3 weeks ago and going to return it today and pre-order new one :)
