Switzerland trip planning

I know this might be a bit difficult, but do people think that is it worth going to Switzerland for 3-4days with family of 5 + 1toddler over easter break? This will be our first foreign trip.Want something with reasonable budget.
Any suggestions how to plan the trip...don't know where to start from?where to go?any tips please...

Might I suggest somewhere other than Switzerland if you want a reasonable budget.

It would be a good idea to investigate the prices there!!

Switzerland is lovely but not for a budget trip. What are you wanting to do? Lots of culture, sightseeing, walking in country? Presumably not beaches if you're thinking Switzerland! Is flight time a big consideration? Are you willing to go a little bit further afield eg towards Italy, Greece, Cyprus?
I'm assuming some of the 5 are also children? Cyprus is very family friendly, will be a nice temperature, English is well spoken there. I'm not sure how good you are linguistically but in Switzerland some parts are very heavily German or French eg when we stayed in Bern, even in the city centre we had to ask for menus in English and then it was harder to just say no than when you browse and walk on!

One of my favourite things about Berne.

Switzerland is expensive! If you want a more budget "mountains" holiday you'd be better going to Austria or somewhere in Germany near the Swiss border. Breakfast in switzerland can cost upwards of £10, a mcdonalds is £12 (but you do get shrimp).

Austria you can get budget accommodation (rare as hens teeth in Switzerland), food is cheaper and if you visit Salzburg you can walk about the areas from the sound of music!

I love Switzerland been lots of times, last time with a big family group including a 1 year old and a 7 year old plus a teen and 5 adults, the trains are excellent but eating out is very expensive and the cuisine is a little on the heavy side. I would go for a short break but it's not really somewhere to take children unless for a specific purpose, when we went with the children we were heading for a sporting event.

Have you thought of camping if the budget is small it is usually warm enough in April, we are off to Snowdonia for Easter this year staying in a pub, we usually go to the Lakes but we fancied a change, Scotland is good too in April ( not too many midges) Premier Inn et al are offering low Priced rooms for Easter... depends how far you need to drive I suppose. Enjoy whatever you decide to do...
