Unwanted phone calls to my home

Hi, I too have Panasonic cordless phones which allow me to block displayed numbers that I choose to do so. But I cannot seem to figure out if it is possible to barr PRIVATE CALL (withheld numbers)
Any ideas on how to do so?
Thank you
And they are good aren't they?
You can set Night Mode to be 23 hours and 59 mins long and make only the people in a certain category (you can have several and all your phone book entries may be in "1" as default -you can go in there and edit them and add them to a new category (which you can rename too eg my category where I only allow calls at night (any hours you like of course just set Night Mode is called FRIENDS)) get through. This may seem extreme but it's like going back in time when your phone rang and you knew it was someone you wanted to speak to. I think this isn't what Panasonic meant by Night Mode but it works for me
These Panasonics are an excellent tool and work far better than any call blocker out there. And if you block a caller's number they just hear an engaged tone.
I divert my mobile to my house phone too so it works perfectly there too thanks to caller ID and/or that number's not in my category of choosing.
It's nice to be in control of inward telecommuncations. I have a sign on my front door saying no sales etc and with my Panasonic it's the same.
I think I allow 10 numbers through for Night Mode if it's anyone else (maybe 60 other people I have stored) it can wait or if it's that important they'll chap my door or send me a letter.

If buying a new model double check it has call block and Night Mode.0 -
Jemma T - seems an ingenious solution...but does it mean that if you are using Night Mode no-one can get thru unless you have listed their number?? I ask because as I read this thread I had an unexpected call from Welsh Water re an appointment about my water meter - it would have been a disaster if they hadn't got thru!!!0

With Night Mode -yes, they wouldn't have gotten through unless you had added them to your category (or I suppose we could call it a 'white list'). And when I say they wouldn't get through the phone would still light up I believe ie it simply doesn't make a ring sound. If a caller is blocked there's no light or ring of course. Just make sure the base unit ringer is set off too as you can make multiple handsets work differently in Night Mode too.
I think I've slightly !!!!!!!ised (that's a good English word and shouldn't be blocked!) the Night Mode function but it's a powerful tool if you use it as a 'white list'. Call barring is fine (only 30 numbers on my model) but the only way to bar private/withheld/international is Night Mode (set to any time you like).
It's a bit of a blunt tool perhaps but just like my NO SALES on the front door it doesn't stop someone chapping my door.
I block entire domains with my email and use lots of filters too, I think most people do that don't they? A home telephone should be no different.0 -

A home telephone should be no different.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
