Morning all
I am doing OK, I think ! Still very busy sorting stuff for mum and today I am making cakes for after the funeral. My wish as dad loved my homemade lemon drizzle cake, so that will keep me busy this morning as I then have to drop it off at a family member for them to take it to church hall.
Mum wants me to sort dad's shed today - not sure how I feel about that, but it will have to be done sometime, so need to keep her happy and occupied too at the moment.
Will be busy cooking this evening as DS and his GF are arriving tonight for the funeral, they are coming straight from work so will need feeding (and it keeps me busy) so looking forward to seeing them again.
Hope you are doing OK and not getting too stressed with your wedding plans.0 -
If anyone going abroad soon or in few months noticed on the weekly email ICICI is doing the 24 hr flash sale on its currency from 9am tomorrow and get a free years tastecard. Their rates compare favourable with anyone elses on the market but the real bonus the tastecard now they say it will save you £80 that is the normal advertised rate but you can normally always pick one up on offer for £29 a year. So use this as a guide to how much it will save against your rate. We did this offer before going to NY for the minumim just so we could get the free tastecard for a year as we weren't loosing anything on the exchange rate.
This card has saved us alot of money over the past few months DH already had one when we signed up to their birthday offer and got a free worktop saver which we were very pleased with. But this offer gave us the chance to both have one as some deals are for 2 people ie Pizza express so if out with family of 4 wld need 2 tastecards. But we try using the tastecard to mainly do the 50% off as easier to work out which conveniently includes our local Indian now making it cheaper to dine in with drinks than order a take away:jWe can use this for 50% off all our food and for up to 10 people so we can treat guests also:j:j:j I know most places exclude Fri & Sat but we work around that. Their site is really easy to use even if not a member you can search and see what deals are around locally but also really handy when travelling on hols in the uk. We used it several times in Newquay in Cornwall when we were there at P/EXp and Bellichos (Probs spelt that wrong). It was funny we went to the above Indian last night as didn't have the energy to cook:o 3 groups of diners came in all using the tastecard so basically everyone in there at that time were using the card which wld have been a very slow evening otherwise for the restaurant.
Think you guessed me love my card:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -

I post on here cos I love the community we have built and the family feel. As much as I would love to be rich, money is not everything, friendship and some family is more precious and I value my friends I have made on here. I know if I need help/advice or just wanna moan/whinge I can come on here and hopefully everyone else feels the same. There are some VERY generous people on here
My sentiments exactly. I just feel like I have so many friends on here and you have all been wonderful, especially this last couple of weeks.
Thank you all.adoreholidays wrote: »SND thinking of you and your baking this morning:A:A:A they will be wonderful. Guess you won't be getting a yoga lesson today either. Any more news about support for your mum from RNIB especially with the door situation.
Definitely no yoga today, although I did some of the breathing exercises last night as I was feeling quite upset.
RNIB can't help with the door situation, but have found a couple of places to visit that may be able to help. Will probably have to wait until Friday now though. However, they were very helpful on the benefits information side of things, which I didn't even ask about. They suggested that mum should be entitled to something called severe disability premium - I think they were the correct words. I was told to wait and see what comes back from pension service regarding her pension and pension credit and take the papers along and they will check them and make the claim for me if it hasn't been included. They have been really helpful.
Miserable and wet here again, just hope the sun shines at lunchtime tomorrow.0 -

I am sending you and your mum lots of (((hugs))) for the next few difficult days.

Hi everyone!!! I sure have missed you all! I'm doing alright. I have a job I like, just wish it wasn't 2nd shift. I like the people I work with though so it makes 2nd shift bearable (don't really have time for a life being on 2nd shift). Sorry to brag, but there are so many coupons over here that I don't print as many as I did in England. Oh and it's great to shop without dealing with trouts! The stores over here really encourage you to use coupons on sale items plus if they let you "stack" coupons (using a store coupon and a manufacturer's coupon) so you get stuff really cheap or free. I am happy to be back home and close to my family. Will be spending today at one of my sister's for a family bbq, should be a hoot! Nice to be back with my childhood friends too, we all kept in touch over the years. Also became a member of my church but must confess I haven't been going regularly the past month or so as I'm still fighting a bit of depression from missing my darling Hubs. I have a nice house with the State forrest across the road and behind my back yard plus I have nice neighbours. I hear the coyotes more than I hear the neighbours. My house and property have loads of potential and I have lots of plans for both, just have to save the money to do what I want, such is life... Well it's after 3am so I best get some shut eye so I don't fall asleep at the family 4th of July bbq. It's been great chatting with you, I've really missed you all! Thanks for asking about me and thanks Blue for this link so I could catch up with everyone!!Murphy knows me too well and sticks to me like glue!0 -
Sher seems quite happy, well as happy as she can be without her hubby. She has got her own home now, a job and is very active in the church plus she plays our weekly games on FB and is usually the weekly winner. Her son is still in England but at least she has her daughter with her and the rest of her family.
Talking of games on FB, "have a nice day MT":rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Aren't you her pal on FB ah? If not then find her through my pals, am sure she would love to hear from you and any others.
I'd love to be pals on fb with anyone who wants to be pals!:jMurphy knows me too well and sticks to me like glue!0 -

My opinion of Your World v mse drivel thread, as that is what it seems to come down to. On the one hand YW is something new, I have never heard of it before DrWW joined it, but its not for me.
I joined mse just over 3 years ago and I consider everyone on this thread to be my friend. I have never felt so much love and friendship from people I have never met. The drivel thread is the best mse thread there is, oh we have the occasional moan about something/someone but underneath it all the regulars on this thread are all wonderful, kind, generous, people, who really care about each other.
You cannot put a price on the friendships that have been made via mse and particularly this thread, it has evolved into a family and I consider that priceless.
I joined this thread when I was made redundant from a job I used to love and was in dire need of help, not just from the loss of money, but I felt so rejected and depressed and yes, lost. I found mse at just the right time, and I have learnt so much about saving money and made I hope lifelong friendships with people who I would never have "met" otherwise.
So to me, this thread is an important part of my life, and I couldn't and wouldn't want to change that.
But I also believe we have to make our own decisions in life and on mse too, so if DrWW wants for whatever reason to post mainly on YW that is up to her. I will really miss her posts, she is so clever and witty and amusing and kind too so I am sure a lot of others on here will be sad too and miss her great posts.
