Evening all. Still struggling to catch up with all the posts, so still a few pages behind.

MAG - you are so good with words. Such a lovely post.
PM - wedding plans seem to be going well :T
CM - I used Ovenpride for cleaning oven shelves. It is brilliant.

Funeral now all arranged but not until 5 July.
Mum gone home - she wanted to be in her own surroundings. She went yesterday but only slept for 1 hour last night so she has been up since 4.30 this morning. She looks absolutely dreadful, but it was her choice to go home. Been over today and spent a few hours with her, offered to bring her back home with us, but she wanted to stay in her own home again.
Really concerned about her safety, especially as she is blind, so has no idea who is at the door.
Visual Impairment Team came out yesterday, but they were useless. The lady has an RNIB cataolgue in the office which she forgot to bring with her ! She was going to put in the post when she got back to the office. Rang today with a couple of queries, but she is on leave until end of next week and only she can deal with mum. Now going to look on RNIB website to see what we can find to help mum.

Sorry about the rant. Will try and catch up over the weekend, but need to go out tomorrow to find a dress suitable for the funeral. I don't have anything suitable that fits me as I have lost so much weight this year with the stress of dad being ill. Hopefully Tesco or Asda do a black shift dress.

Sorry to hear the visual impairment team were so poor. I found this page on the RNIB website:

Might be worth signing up for the newsletter:

Try to look after yourself, it is hard when you have had to be focused on your dad and now your mum but you can't afford to get ill

hi snd i am only an irregular poster on this thread but i wanted to give my condolences and also to offer practical (written!) support for the changes ahead for you and your family. for my sins I am training to be a social worker and am more than aware of how difficult things can be for children of older parents and how confusing the system is, also how much it relies on ppls family to support them. it is your mums choice to go home and agencies should support with this (total rubbish that only one worker can deal with one person-if they have written notes anyone should be able to support while the rnib worker is on leave and its illegal not to write notes on a visit!). If your mum wants to stay in own home long term and get support she should be more than entitled to an assessment by the state and be able to decide for herself what she does and doesnt want. If you need any concrete info I have a number or law bks that I can quote at rnib/s services etc including on the financial side of things. I know this will not be appropriate for now with funeral to deal with but a lot of our family friends have struggled with big changes particularly when one parent is widowed, and I just wanted to offer my two pennies if it helps to support a lovely person and their family. feel free to PM and all my thoughts and energy are being sent to you x

Hope everybody else on the thread is soldiering on too x
