It seems if you work for a HA you're immune from ever losing your job; they just move you to another office/department where you can further display your stunning incompetence. The housing assoc we were with before in our old place were even worse and make this one look like Mary Poppins-boiler was 20 years old and just about passed its safety check and broke down every couple of months but they refused to replace it, also they put in a new kitchen where the backs of the cupboards were thin hardboard stapled on with a regular staplegun like the ones teachers use in school to put displays up, needless to say after two weeks all the cupboard backs fell off, they also built the cupboards on top of the sockets for the washing machine so we had to cut a hole in the back of one of them to install our new washing machine. Also the radiators in the living room fell off the wall and the man who came to repair it he said he dealt with one of these practically every day because the plaster the housing assoc used when building the house was a load of crap. The drains also became blocked due to a blockage caused by the previous tenants; and the housing assoc made the drains empty into a drain cover in the middle of the close-there was no grid outside in the front yard like you'd expect, and they refused to pay for this repair consequently it costed us £250. Also when we moved in half the stairs were broken and kicked in and you couldn't get upstairs without some very dangerous manouvering, when we phoned them they said this was not a priority repair as you don't really need the upstairs of the property  after my OH bothered them a bit more they agreed to come but only after 2 weeks, we had to stay at OH's aunts house until they could fix it. Its a shame as you do get some great housing associations. My OHs uncle lives in a lovely development and the housing assoc do any repairs that day and have a zero tolerance policy for ASB, they also clean the development every day yet their service charge is a lot less than ours. xx

This development was recently handed over to another housing association in the same umbrella group, and I know the new housing association are a lot more hands on and take complaints seriously in many regards but at the same time I have heard they are even worse with repairs. Am seriously thinking of writing to local MP though as he does get involved in stuff like this xx
I'd definitely contact your MP - do any of your councillors, local, region or MP, hold surgeries? Would be good to go to one to talk face to face and if there was a group of you even more ammunition.
I'm afraid that nowadays it is always those who make themselves a nuisance who usually get their problem sorted.0 -
