It depend on what you need:
With blackberry you get the BBM, free messaging service.
Other android phones are ok. If you are looking to use some apps check to make sure it is available for your phone, not all apps work with all phones. Also be aware of malware and how to avoid them otherwise you may end up paying few £ to 3rd party.
From the other three I would go for galaxy Y0 -
For a cheap smartphone I would go for a BB PAYG for £5 a month you get 1gb Internet messaging and email on tescomobile. The phone itself is quite good too in my opinion.0

San Fran (aka ZTE Blade) without a doubt .. one of the best phones ever made!! ... http://sanfranciscoandroid.co.uk/
Head over to Modaco or XDA-developers to read all about rooting/de-branding etc etc
Stick in a GiffGaff £10 goodie bag every month and away you go ...0 -
According to http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4117&idPhone2=3391 'Y' has faster processor and newer OS than OSF, but OSF has a better screen. It's not clear what Graphics Processing Unit 'Y' has.Orange San Fransisco (not mark 2 version)
Galaxy Y
Galaxy Europa
...
However, AFAIK, OSF can run 2.3+ OS.
'Y' is better than 'Europe' by all means: http://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=4117&idPhone2=3371
That said, OSF2 costs just a fraction more than OSF, but AFAIK is more difficult to unlock.0 -
Well thanks for all your advice...really appreciated:j
ruled out europa and thinking about others
BB is refurbished and 99 with e2save then £10 top up
Galaxy y is about 80 quid at carphone warehouse then top up
San Fransscio is £62 and top up so prob will go for that in the end!
Any other ideas appreciated tho xx0 -
reserved one at argos believe it or not!!0

I suspect that will be a San Fran II (aka ZTE Crescent) ..
Sounds like a nice deal though!0 -
I've got the BlackBerry 9300 and I wouldnt be without it but it does my head in... can take ages to connect to internet, battery and signal lousy and other such issues...
My best mate has the SF (hers is the 2 though) and she says it is absolutely brilliant.*The RK and FF fan club* #Family*Don’t Be Bitter- Glitter!* #LotsOfLove ‘Darling you’re my blood, you have my heartbeat’ Dad 20.02.200 -
If you can buy that for £62 then I think you will be pleased.
It can be a bit "laggy" but it has to be judged by what it cost.
Free unlock, relatively easy removal of the worst of the Orange rubbish, overall very good for the money.
I'm not so sure about the Orange San Francisco II where the unlock isn't so easy. It depends on what network you intend to use.
For PAYG, the T-Mobile data deal takes a lot of beating so their equivalent to the Orange San Francisco II, The T-Mobile Vivacity would be worth a look.0
