  • OMG I can't believe the price of eggs .....

I get mine from a farm shop along the road - 85p for Large and 90p Extra Large (6)

They are honestly the best eggs I've tasted and it's lovely being able to see the chickens whose eggs you're getting running around outside - thanking my lucky stars there's one near me.

We buy local (ie IOW) free range eggs from the Co-op at £1.20 for 6, but they'd be cheaper if we were able to collect them at the farm, of course. Lovely eggs, and very fresh. :)

I wish I had chickens. My OH got some of the best eggs from a friend of his. I felt sorry for the poor chickens when I saw the size of them! Every one was a double yolker.

I've bought woodland eggs from Sainsburys. The yolks were a lovely colour. Apparently the chickens get to roam around trees. I've been banned from buying anything other than free-range, ever since OH saw that Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall's programme.

Iceland still have 6 free-range ones for £1.

It Doesnt hurt them. Mind you they dont like it when you try to take it off them!!!! Mum mentioned that Iceland have them on offer at the moment. She also mentioned farmfoods and Lidl.
Has anyone seen my last marble:A:A:A:A

We've recently put the price of our eggs up to £1.50 for half a dozen. Our customers have said they'd willingly pay more as our girls eggs are really good. Really hard shells and lovely golden yolks. I think our customers also like the mix of egg colours and sizes, they range from very pale pinky white, blues, greens, tan and dark brown.

    They are so pretty!

My mum noticed this and I said to her "why didnt you come and see me". I agree lots of things are shooting up in price. I dont know why, Chickens havent gone up in price to buy.
Perhaps not. But they've gone up in terms of keeping them and changing the ways in which they're kept to keep in line with the new EU directives.

How easy or difficult are eggs to ship across the country in smallish i.e. normal household quantities?

I still haven't been over to L!dl to check today's egg-prices. I know if I go round there I'll find other things to buy and i have no money. I don't actually need eggs right this minute any way as I have half a dozen but once I get some baking done I'll be a bit low.

That's the bonus of buying locally produced eggs, if you can.

check the egg stamp. it tells you were the packing centre is the type of egg. a paking centre in the uk won't risk losing there packing number for faking eggs.

funnily the son found an old nest in the barn and accidently broke some. his face went very green.
