Try Magnum from Aldi. It's much cheaper and I find it at least as good (Aldi publicises the fact that it got a Which? award).

I like Aldi Magnum 'Aloe Vera'. Lovely smell, works great and matches my kitchen!

OH thinks I'm a bit sad buying a washing up liquid to colour co-ordinate with my tea towels and kitchen.:rotfl:
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

She's not eating feathers or steel though. I hope.

I've only ever tried the basic versions, e.g. lemon. Will have to try Aloe Vera now everyone's raved about it!

I think it's difficult to generalise, some value brands are as good as branded stuff, some own branded are ghastly.
It's a matter of trying stuff out, not being stuck with the same brand for years.

Toilet paper amazes me, we buy different brands depending on what is on offer, my OH bought velvet on offer, and as soon as I had the roll in my hands before knowing it was a different one, I knew it was a better quality. We need half as much so works out much cheaper.
The cheap Tesco stuff lasts 5 minutes, even Waitrose's own brand was a bit rough we when used it last.

Lidl is the only brand that can be as good as branded stuff, in general, although not everything is, but worth a try.
  • So to be honest, I dont know about the others on here, I have never ever had a problem with Aldi goods and I will quite happily recommend them to anyone on a budget. I am always amaized how little my shop costs compared to Asda etc..... But I dont know if some of you have the problem of well I only eat this brand and that. It is a tad annoying at times. I even swear by their cosmetics, they are better value for money and I love their Q10 night cream. About 20 times cheaper than clinqiue and I used to love that brand.

Hi think its fabulous. I am not a huge aldi fan unlike many, but go and buy lots of this at a time. The normal green one has a nice fresh light fragrance as well as being super efficient.

I only buy An**ex but that's because it's the only loo roll that doesn't block our drain in to the sewer. I only buy it when it is on offer though. £7.50 for 2 packs at Co-op at the moment. Lidl washing up liquid is very good I buy the white one as it does not irritate my sensitive skin.

I'm with you on the marigolds - all the cheaper ones I've tried seem to spring a leak fairly quickly.
Loo roll I get what ever branded is on offer at the time - it does seem to work out at better value over time that the wilko cheapy I used to get.
The only other thing I can think of where I always get the branded version is heinz tomato sauce. Although that's taste rather than value.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
