Much what sells under own brands at Tesco's, Waitrose etc is rather rough (except for their premium lines). The best brand for best value I can think of is Aldi's own brand.

I think there is something to be said for branded things like Fairy. I always go back to it, and buy when on offer, because It does last much longer. As for loo roll, Nicky is as good as Andrex. No question. Mind you, I discovered to my annoyance that there are 2 types of Nicky. I bought a 9pk in Wilko's last week for £2 to save me going to Farmfoods, only to discover that It wasn't the same as the Nicky Elite which I normally buy. This is a much thinner, cheaper version.
So, if you have tried Nicky and found it lacking, get yourself to FF and buy 2x9pk for £4. Thick and luxurious! The only thing that may put some people off is the fact that it is slightly scented, but I have spoken to friends who avoid scented things 'cos of thrush etc, and it doesn't seem to be a problem.

500g is 500g so you get the same as they are sold by weight and not volume.

A tonne of feathers will take up much more space than a tonne of steel.

I had actually written last wee!! I was sorely tempted to leave it, but I can't abide spelling mistakes. Wish I had left it now!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

  • I was in the "always buy Fairy liquid" group until the last bottle I got. Seems quite runny and I'm going through it a lot faster than my previous bottle which lasted nearly two years (we have a dishwasher, so it's only for the handwash stuff). Going to try something different when this runs out, I think!

Try Magnum from Aldi. It's much cheaper and I find it at least as good (Aldi publicises the fact that it got a Which? award).
