New light for Hyundai i20
While Hubby was driving home tonight he colided with a pheasent:( and has smashed his front light.
Only the glass has smashed and the light is a bit wobbly but still works.
With 150.00 excess (NCD is protected) is it worth going through our insurance company?
Has anyone any idea of costs?
Many thanks

Don't go insurance. Go to eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HYUNDAI-i20-N-S-F-HEADLIGHT-/180826818049?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item2a1a1e4601#ht_1171wt_922
Search for hyundai i20 headlight seems they are all around the £100 to £1100 -
as MX5huggy says is the way to go
i was paying £150 for old accent headlights 10 years ago at undy dealers so hate to think what they want for 21st century polycarbonate modern ones
you might need a local man to fit it though0 -
What sauce did you have on the pheasant ?Mortgage free
Vocational freedom has arrived0 -
Ebay, and they take about 20 minutes to fit.
If you are not sure about how to do it, shout out on here, and I am sure someone local enough to help will pop round for teh price of a coffee (Milton Keynes covered here!)0 -
Thanks everyone.
Have contacted dealer and looking at 219.00 plus fitting
Iam looking at ebay at the mo.
I live in Devon if anyone can help! ( Richard, you don't fancy a day trip to Devon do you?)xx0 -
If you read your manual for changing a bulb, you may find that you have remove whole head light to do this. You do on my Octavia and Puma. Otherwise take it to any independent garage and they should do it quite quick.0

Apparently it is fiddly but only two bolts and a piece of plastic holding it in.

As with most headlights the difficult part is getting the new headlight aligned properly so you don't blind other road users and fail the next MOT. Might be worth paying a garage with the proper equipment to do it for you if you are not confident. Is it the NS or OS light?0 -
Make sure the dealer is quoting the cheapest price they can - I noticed an oddity when getting a price for a rear light for my Kia Picanto.
A bare light unit without bulb holders or bulbs was £40 more than the complete unit!0 -
Sorry, Dont think my kind heartendness extends to driving down to Devon

Honestly, Ebay for a new one and find a local garage/MOT place to fit it an dcheck the alignment - if he charges you more than £30 I'd be surprised.0 -
To make sure your not blinding other drivers, you may wish to remove the headlamp bulb until it's fixed.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
