    well 2 of the walls in my bedroom in the house i'm renting now are stud walls and it's ok, even tho my housemate watches tv and plays computer games in his bedroom that's by mine

    They've probably got sound insulation quilt in them. If you have a downstairs bedroom that hears everything the lodger would moan and probably eventually just move out, spending a bit to get things right at the start may avoid future problems.

    sweet, thanks. if I do end buying a house where I need to put a wall back in, then I'll def add some sound insulation :)
