Nearly Blew It !
Had the car in for a quick touch-up on some scrape damage from some inconsiderate Git when some low cunning instinct made me check the MOT date for renewal ! 3 days over !!!! and in this day of ANPR i think i would have soon had a blues & twos behind me !
So rang garage and they have arranged a MOT for today :T
So i was thinking why dont they have a system same as tax reminder where a quick letter , email or text could give us a nudge when coming up to renewal date ?
Or is that too simple ?

I get mine done at Kwik-Fit and they usually send me an email reminder

They do. Look on your MOT certificate and there is a sticker you peel off and stick in the windscreen (or anywhere) to remind you.
Best advice is to note the date on a calender and get the MOT done one month in advance. More time for repairs if needed.
I read somewhere that we may be going to 2 year MOT's ?NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Something like this perhaps?

Heres one to say the 2 year MOT's not going ahead as well.

Not any more, MOT is on an A4 sheet of paper, with no sticker.
For £1.50 they will now send you a text reminder.
Like you I make a note of the date on a calender, plus my garage sends me a reminder .0 -

That would mean getting the certificate out once a week or framing it on the living room wall.
I quick reminder in Google calender works as it emails you0 -
Not always - Google have had issues with their calendar notifications and it took them a few months to resolve. That experience taught me that Google can not be trusted and that they don't care much about user experience if it doesn't impact their ad-revenue.That would mean getting the certificate out once a week or framing it on the living room wall.

Most households still use paper calendars - just put the dates of MOT, tax, insurance & service on there as you would with birthdays, anniversaries, etc.0 -
It's not really a big deal if it expires FPN or a court appearance with a minimal fine thats assuming you get pulled.
There is a sticker on the MOT cert, at least there was 9 months ago.
I don't agree there should be reminders as that will cost us all a lot of money to administer, people should be responsible themselves by putting a reminder somewhere they will see it.0 -
Are you going to go and thank the inconsiderate car-scraping git for reminding you and saving you ££££?
