LPG Delivery Rip-off??

Hi, I am posting this for my friend who thinks she may have been ripped-off on some LPG deliveries following a change of supplier:

The LPG quantity delivered and the amount shown as used via her meter have always tallied to within a small percentage.

The new supplier seems to use 2 types of delivery note, one shows a start and end meter reading, and quantity delivered, and there are no problems with this type, but the other has the start quantity as zero and the end reading (ie. quantity delivered) and with these deliveries the amount delivered seems to always vastly exceed what she thinks she has used from her own meter (when it is time to re-fill the tank).

So does anyone know if it is possible for the 'zero' type delivery note to be abused, say, by setting it to zero, then doing a delivery to A, then carrying on to B without re-setting to zero, then printing the delivery note so that B picks up the quantity delivered to A + B?? (apologies for any confusion, I have tried to explain as best I can).

Of course the new supplier has told my friend that no way is this possible but her LPG bill is now considerably more than it used to be and there is a large variance in what the supplier says they have delivered and what she has measured as being used.

The new supplier has stopped answering her correspondance and is demanding payment for their most recent delivery.

Any advice please!!!

  • Suggest looking back at previous deliveries for the price per litre and comparing. LPG tends to have huge proce rises during a contract.
  • Hi jeepjunkie,

Price per litre is a different issue (as you say, big price rises!!).

This issue seems to be a big variance on a couple of deliveries on what the supplier says was delivered v's what my friend metered was used before the next fill-up.
  • Hi, i'm only familiar with the single receipt/ticket that shows how many litres were delivered. Every delivery we had was a different, sometimes a little other times a lot. There was no upwards pattern. Could it just be the time of year but then winter has been mild??? I'd be very surprised if deliveries could be fiddled.

Same here, but having gone through the delivery notes, etc, with her I am suspecting that it might be possible (she is convinced she has been ripped-off). Just wondered if anyone has had a similar issue?
  • This 'LPG delivery Rip Off' is happening frequently. I have a 2000ltr LPG tank and a separate meter between the tank and my house which records how much LPG I’m using (just like any other gas meter). For 8 years the deliveries to the tank have corresponded with my LPG usage according to my meter. The delivery ticket always started with a previous accumulative total, (supposedly from previous deliveries that day) then deducted the amount put into my tank, then ended with the new accumulative total. When I read my meter and calculated my usage, it always agreed with the amount on the delivery ticket (give or take a tiny %) THEN I CHANGED SUPPLIER!! The delivery ticket starts at 0 and then shows the amount put into my tank – no other figures. My meter reading on two occasions showed that I used only half of what the delivery ticked said. On 2 other occasions it was about a third difference. When I complained I was told the delivery amount was correct, the delivery ticket cannot be fiddled. I had all my pipes checked for leaks and my meter checked and confirmed working correctly. In between these questionable deliveries, I had one delivery where the driver provided a ticket with accumulative totals and surprise surprise the amount agreed with my meter reading.
With a 2000 litre tank we are talking large amounts of money difference. But the company refuses to believe the ticket quantity can be fiddled. ARE THERE ANY EX DELIVERY DRIVERS OUT THERE WHO CAN CONFIRM THIS IS POSSIBLE?
