Help! Macbook Pro Lion OS crashing

My MBP crashes quite a lot since upgrading to Lion and the iCloud, is there any particular reason for this, it drives me mad. That 500GB hard drive is very full and I have tried to weed out unwanted stuff, should just change it maybe to a solid state drive. I keep regular backups to a remote HD and online so I feel fairly safe if it's the hard drive starting to fail or should I r-format and install the system anew? any help much appreciated.

How much RAM are you running. Keep rarely used items (photos, etc) backed up on various media formats and delete from hard drive.0

I've got 4GB Ram and about 7.5K photos in iPhoto why would that be a problem?0

Thanks for that, I think I will save out the iPhoto library and take it off the hard drive (it's worried me for some time but I refer to quite a lot of the photos often) and I will look at ice clean. But maybe I should take out and replace the HD, put it in a caddy and start afresh eh?0

That would be sensible as well as upgrading to 8GB if your Pro allows it.0 -
Thanks ever so much for the advice sounds as if I will have to shell out for a new hard drive i think.0

Buy a new hard drive? SSD? You'll not get a 500gb SSD very cheap if indeed it exists, SSDs are lower capacity than 'hard disks' for the moment! I don't think it's necessary either unless you actually need to carry 500gb of data around with you. A useful fix might be to 'repair disk permissions' on your hard drive. Do this after clearing it of whatever you can (have a good look, do you maybe have some duplication somewhere?). Applications, Utilities, Disk Utility, select your hard drive and click 'repair disk permissions'.0
