Thanks ada, I'll check it out. wapow - sorry if you thought I was being sarky, it's just that recently, I have found very sarky comment when asking for help on this forum. I did Google for video software, and as I am not very good with technology, thought I would ask advice here. I just thought someone here would be able to recommend something they are using.

im happy youre chilled out :)
    i also recommended software - 2nd post!

just let us know what research youve done or whether there was something you liked the sound of or whatever. just that usually people are more than bothered to let someone else do all the work while they sit back sippin coffee and on any other day id still help out without being funny but somedays alot of things r going on in the forums and i guess like you, i had to be sarky too! :D

anyway good luck trying them out.

    another thing

sign up to a few, youll find more people on imac on them sites than you might do here

Probably would help if you said what the problem with iMovie was.

Are you wanting paid or free software? If paid what is your budget?

Final Cut Pro, Avid, Sony Vegas Pro, Adobe Premier Pro are the big boys options. Many of these however there is also an "express" version rather than pro which is watered down for the committed amateur market (pro tends to be £500-£1,000 where as express typically are £50-£100)
