The biggest problem I had was getting in and out the car. I have a 3 door and the doors are quite chunky, not leaving me a lot of room when someone parks close.

This happened to me in the station car park! Both cars either side of me parked so close I couldn't open either of the front doors wide enough to get it in! I had to wait until one of their trains came in and they moved their cars. I was not happy

I drove 45 minutes each way to work, 5 days a week until I was 39 weeks pregnant.

I really could have done with using the parent and child spaces in the last few months of pregnancy just so I could open my door wide enough!

That reminded me that I came back to the car one day and could not get in as the man next to me had parked too close, it is the only time I have shouted at a stranger as I ended up sitting on the curb for over half an hour!
  • I drove up untill about 37 weeks with my first and till about 6 months with my 2nd, I stopped driving when I didnt feel comfortable, and I was forgetting how to drive!

I drove a 90 minute each way commute to and from work up until 33 weeks, and my last car journey before the baby was born was at 39 weeks.

I had to move my adjustable steering wheel up to make space for my bump, as well as the seat back, and i bought a seat belt bump protector (from amazon). To be honest my biggest problem was needing to go to the loo so often that i couldnt risk getting stuck in traffic!

Like everyone else has said it depends on how you are as the pregnancy progresses. I'm 33 weeks tomorrow and still don't really feel pregnant! I haven't had to make any adjustments to seat position or steering wheel height (yet!) and I have no problems getting in and out of the car unless the parking spaces are very tight and don't allow me enough room for the bump! I drive a 60 mile round trip for work everyday and its no different for me than how it was pre-pregnancy. the only thing I do differently is drive in trainers then change my shoes once I get to work as I'd rather have something without heels to stand or walk in if the car broke down or anything.
  • Oh I took my driving test at 36 weeks with my first and passed! So was only driving for about 5days, by the time I'd bought a car after passing!

Lol at some of the stories here about getting into the car :rotfl: :rotfl:

I was driving a very old ford fiesta. Could lock it from both sides. Had to open the passenger door and lean over to open the driver's door. Guess what numpty parked next to a lamp post and couldn't get into the car :rotfl:

Don't think it was a pleasant sight for anyone to see, me trying to get in through the boot to open the driver's door with bump going one way and fat 4rse up in the air :rotfl:
