I'd also add that prescriptions have only recently become free so for 10 years after my accident, I had to pay for over the counter painkillers and wait weeks for physio even when heavily pregnant.
You should have contacted yorkie98 - they could have cured you without even putting their hands on your body!

Compensation culture NI rears its ugly head again, when did things get so distorted that any kind of suffering gets equated to a financial figure, how can money make a medical condition better? We have a free NHS and even free prescriptions here so cost of treatment is not an issue. Cash won't make the pain go away and neither will the big 50" TV you buy with the compo.

    Whatever happened to S41t happens?

I have never made a personal injury claim and don't expect I ever will unless I receive life changing injuries which require major finance to manage (god forbid) but hey, you just go for it, claiming for whatever you can get for an inconveience that many people just pick themsleves up and dust themselves down from, and I'll pick up the tab in my ever increasing premiums. No bother, it's only money hey?

Lets hope you live your life then without needing to then good luck with that one i pay my car insurance as well and have done for years do you think if i ran into someone that they would get out of the car brush them self down and say hey never worry thats life ...no i doubt it .

If they have not recieved life changing long term injuries which will actually cost them money to deal with, then I'd like to think so. People DO still behave this way (not claiming for the sake of it), I know this for a fact because I am one of them.
Do you think I have never had car accidents in my lifetime? Of course I have, I just haven't made any claims because apart from an odd bruise and bump, and yes even a bit of a sore neck and shoulder, I was fine after a few days. Life goes on.

All I can say is I guess we'd better hope that if the two of us were ever involved in an accident that it is me that is hit by you and not vice/versa..

I am amazed at the way yorkie98 can make these diagnoses without even seeing people - why hasn't the NHS snapped him/her up long ago? :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I don't think I made any diagnoses, I've re-read my post and nope, definitely didn't make any diagnoses, nor did I see anyone approaching me with symptoms asking for a diagnosis.

Don't understand where you comment is coming from..

I also cannot recall ever claiming to be some kind of healer, did I say that? Nope I don't see that in my post either.

It does appear (without laying a finger on anyone) that I have touched a raw nerve. I thought this was a money-saving forum, not a money-grabbing forum.
If we are ever to kerb the spiralling cost (and thus SAVE MONEY) on insurance premiums, the claim culture has to stop.

yorkie the OP asked advice whether it was worth the bother claiming for injuries or not. I, (and others) advised yes on the basis of what OP posted. She may or may not have long term serious injuries, which can only be determined by a consultant.

Can't see how your opening statement of "Compensation culture NI rears its ugly head again" does anything other than infer that the OP is not entitled to claim/shouldn't be claiming.

And just for the record I have been driving for 40 years and never claimed compo for any injuries either.

Is it worth the bother myself and 2 kids were hit from behind last year driver admitted responsabilty i hurt my neck and my head the 2 kids were not hurt but in pieces my injuries have healed still on meds for my head apart from being now a nervous driver i am fine i know thats why we pay our insurance but i really hate the thought of fighting over money.:(

The driver, under the terms of his insurance policy is not allowed to admit responsibilty. The two insurance companies usually decide between them who is responsible unless it is not clear cut. If the other insurance company see a possible claim for £10,000's due to whiplash, they might not be so willing to accept responibilty, thus the time at which the insurance copanies have been informed of these injuries maybe crucial.

Sure there are people who make up claims etc. but there are also a lot who don't claim when perhaps they should. The problem with a lot of these things is you really do not know the long term consequences at the outset.

On the other side there are also those who try to minimise what you claim and delay the process and payment. I would suggest that the likes of the NI Office do not properly compensate for actual, real, ascertainable loss. There are rouges on both sides of this process.

From your post I doubt that you have ever had to live with long term pain. It is not fun, and trying to put a monetary value on it is a strange concept. It effects your mood, and general health as you become a lot less active. On the positive side it tends to make you a lot more sympathetic to others, gives a better understanding of what health problems can actual mean and you develop an appreciation of a Health Service accessible to all.
