My (now ex) husband lost his wedding ring several times during our marriage, in fact I began to think it was planned. The first time was on our honeymoon in the Caribbean, followed by various other places. I eventually came to the decision that he didn't really want it. Not that that impacted on our final divorce, and I'm not saying that this is anything to do with your recent loss.......... :-)

I lost mine and we bought another, which I much prefer. Buy another one and remember that it's the marriage that matters, not the wedding.

A bit of a weird one, but whenever I lose something I always ask (out loud) if there is anyone upstairs watching over me, could they please have a little look. Doesn't always work, but it has a few times when I've given up hope!

Blimey Meritaten, I was starting to think you were a sane poster! Although I have to say that's the kinda thing I would do, so maybe you are.... :-)

Why thank you - I often doubt my sanity myself - but motherhood and grandmotherhood does that to you!

It was desperation and I swear that document was NOT in that file and so does OH - yet ten minutes later it was the first document in there!

I am almost afraid to use it since! freaked me out a bit!

My Mum would have you praying to St Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. The fact that she's atheist doesn't bother her in the circumstances :rotfl:

Try to "dream" where it is in an asking the cosmos kind of way. I'm not certain whether I believe in cosmic ordering but it's worth a try for something so sorely missed.

    Hope you find it soon!

i have done both to help me find lost things,

i do promise St anthony £x if it turns up, and i try to "dream" where the item might be,

sometimes it works, sometimes it dont!

    hope you find it ;)

Thankyou to everyone for your stories and advice. it still hasn't turned up. We are going to wait until after the ad in the paper goes in and then see about claiming on insurance and getting a new one.

it is interesting the value that we place on these sorts of items. The thing about this ring is that my husband and I chose it together and had it specially made. it was made of 22 carat Indian gold which we probably would find hard to replace now due to the increase in gold prices. My husband says that he wouldn't mind so much if it was just lost, but the thought of someone else taking our memories and selling them to some crappy pawnbrokers really upsets him.

he has said that he has noticed over and over the fact he isn't wearing it - funny because it sat in a drawer for ages before we had it made bigger (ironic, I know).

Anyway -I have come up with a good idea. My Mum died a couple of years ago and among her things was a plain gold wedding band. I can't wear it because it is too small and anyway - I have my grandmothers wedding ring. but I have offered for my husband to use the gold in my Mum's ring to put towards a new ring if we have to get one made. Luckily we know a jeweller who specialises in handcrafted gold. He thought that might be a nice touch and it reinforces my commitment to him, that I would offer something with such great sentimental value to me.

he wants a new ring asap. All of this has made me realise how seriously he takes being married and that has been a good thing.

Gonna try the pin in the cushion thing!!
