Lost wedding ring - what to do?

Options
I need to know the best ways to find a lost wedding ring. it could have been lost in the street, although it is impossible to tell as it wasn't noticed until hours later. have been back to all the places it might be and no luck.

I have placed an ad in the local paper and completed a lost form with the local police. I have also asked on twitter and facebook for people to pass on the information.

What else can I do? Not hugely expensive (but bad enough) but it is the significance and the memories associated with a wedding ring which are causing upset.

Anyone else had this happen and what did you do to find it?

Do you ever remove it to wash your hands? Were you wearing the ring on your hand or was it in a purse or on a chain?
I think it's unlikely it just fell off on the street. I would be retracing my steps and searching my house/car. I hope and "feel" you will find it!
I've only ever once know someone to lose a wedding ring...in a swimming pool on their honeymoon! and yes, fro them it was a bad sign.
Things usually turn up eventually. Tell us some more about the circumstances.

My husband lost his three months after our wedding. He looked everywhere - retracing his steps - to no avail. We claimed for another on our insurance. A few months later he found it under the sofa.

So try not to get in too much of a state as it won't help, and look everywhere - the car, the house, ask local transport, police station in case its been handed in, shops for the same reason.
I have had many Light Bulb Moments. The trouble is someone keeps turning the bulb off :o

  • My Mum would have you praying to St Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. The fact that she's atheist doesn't bother her in the circumstances :rotfl:

Try to "dream" where it is in an asking the cosmos kind of way. I'm not certain whether I believe in cosmic ordering but it's worth a try for something so sorely missed.

    Hope you find it soon!
They call me Dr Worm... I'm interested in things; I'm not a real doctor but I am a real worm.
  • And check your hoover bag.

Check inside your rubber gloves too.

Were you in any shops trying clothes on.

Check your handbag, if your hands have been in it, it could have slipped off.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Actually it was my OH. he is a tradesman and was doing all sorts on the day. In and out of loads of shops, in and out of the van and customers houses. our house, the van and customers houses have been turned upside down looking. the shops have all been called and their car parks checked. even checked our bins...

It had recently been altered because it was too small...now too big obviously :(

A friend suggested contacting our local pawn shops and second hand jewellery stores.

Haven't hoovered since then - not big on hovoering or Dysoning in our case.

Ah, hope it turns up soon.

About 5 years ago, I lost my engagement ring. It was very special to me as OH had chosen it without any input from me and it was just perfect. It was specially hallmarked for the millennium, too. I broke my heart over this and was upset for absolutely ages afterwards. To date, it has never been found, but I still hope that I might find it.......
