Driving in France this summer - remember your breathalyzer kit
From late June/early July this year (2012) you will be required to carry a breathalyzer in you car when driving in France (they suggest you have 2). You will be fined if you fail to produce one when asked to by the police.
I found this site for them http://www.valuebreathalysers.co.uk/acatalog/SINGLE_USE_BREATHALYSERS.html
You need the 0.05%BAC ones.

No fines until November but you could be stopped as you say.
Ferries/tunnel shops etc will be selling these and be surprised if not cheaper than the nearly £7 it would cost for 3 from your link
Also remember high viz jacket inside the drivers area and headlamp lens deflectors
Also don't forget the change in sat nav rules as well and to deactivate speed camera monitors or links0 -
Not saying you should buy from them just used their site so that people see what they need.sunshinetours wrote: »Ferries/tunnel shops etc will be selling these and be surprised if not cheaper than the nearly £7 it would cost for 3 from your link
As to buying on the ferry/tunnel posters on other forums think they will overcharge for these like they do other essentials because by the time you are at the port you have no choice but to buy them.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Agreed wasn't a criticism but as you only legally need one I doubt even if the ferry companies will be charging more a than a couple of pounds each0 -
That's a bit nuts, I don't drink. :rotfl:0

Can't the Gendarmes afford their own? I know Europe's getting a bit short of cash.

And why two?
I can see the logic behind Spain's requirement for 2 warning triangles (presumably one ahead, one behind) for Spanish registered vehicles.

PS. I suspect that the French attitude to teetotalism is the same as to vegetarianism. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.

I'm going in May so I'll buy when I'm there from E.Leclerc
Will report back to let you know how much they are.
I got my high vis vest from Carrefour for 1Euro when that rule came out which was cheaper than the £5 asked for on the boat.0 -
How effective is a warning triangle for stopping a juggernaut with a sleeping driver?TrickyWicky wrote: »Plus your warning triangle.
