The OP won't lose benefits though, as they have already fulfilled the terms of the JSA agreement prior to their child being admitted to hospital.
OP - I hope your son is recovering well. I don't know if you are aware, but if you are on JSA, you can claim back some hospital transport expenses. If your son needs to return to the hospital for further treatment or a check up, take proof that you are on JSA with you. Keep any tickets from public transport if you have travelled this way. Ask the clinic to give you a slip to prove your attendence and then take these to the cash office. You may be able to claim back travelling expenses based on tickets, and if you travel by car, there is usually a set fee based on milage. You may also get free car parking instead of having to pay.0
