On jsa but child in hospital

I wonder if anyone can give me some advice please. I'm currently on JSA and have been searching for work. My child fell in on Sunday has been admitted into hospital. I'm due to sign on tomorrow and due to being by his bedside, looking for work has been the last thing on my mind. I have arranged for someone to sit with him tomorrow, so i can go to sign on but my work search this week is blank. Will I be sanctioned ? I'm going back to the hospital now but will try and get back for answers before tomorrow.

Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't have thought you will be sanctioned for a reason like your child being ill in hospital.

I have to say I'm no expert though, but I wish you well and hope your little one gets better very soon.

Is there anything you can put on there so it's not completely blank, like you looked in local papers or online for jobs? However I also know that I have overheard on several occasions people not having the form with them, saying they haven't applied for anything, and the signing on person saying that they need to get it sorted out by the next time they sign on.

I would put down whatever you did before last Sunday. There is 2 weeks or at least 1 week between signing on days so if you are signing on tomorrow you must have something you can write it the book. Although I know some people who only look for work the day before or the day they need to sign on just to fill in the book.

Thanks for the advice. He is home now. My book is nearly full from the search the week before, it was just that I done nothing from Sunday.

I have various letters from the hospital, so I will just take them with me tomorrow and explain the situation to them.
  • Just say you sent spec letters out, choose some shops, random days and dates, say there was nothing interesting on Job centre website, they wont check.

Please don't encourage people to lie. To do so when its already been established there's no need to is ludicrous and irresponsible
