Back to the original post...

Hi all, just joined today. Needing help!! You see my bank is Airdrie Savings Bank and they are an independent bank with only 6 branches. Anyway i received my statements for last 6 yrs and a letter from the manager to call in to discuss this further which i did yesterday .... complete waste of time! All she kept saying over and over again was Terms and Conditions, blah, blah, blah.

I have looked at most threads as i want to know if anyone else has the same bank to me and how did they get on!

p.s I am going to take this the whole way!

  • Hello anyone out there that has the same bank as me!!!!!!!

I know a lot of you may not of heard of this bank as its only based in Lanarkshire area, its a small bank with only 6 branches and i was refused when i approched them. I am going to take it the whole way.

just really interested if anyone else has the same bank.
  • Hi I don't know if I'm in the right thread. My sister is wanting to claim back charges from Airdrie Savings Bank I've searched through many many posts but can't find anything relating to them. If anyone has claimed from them or know anything about them please let me know.
  • ;) Hi to all, i am with the airdrie savings bank who have refused to refund charges. Would love to hear from any others who are with this bank.
  • Hi glad someone else out there with same bank as me. I have sent the two letters as stated and still they refuse - looking for £2500.00 back. Got letter saying they will close my account. So set up another account with Lloyds Tsb over the phone took 20mins, i am now going to start proceedings at the small claim court for £750.00 as that is the maximum amount you can claim. Therfore i will then go back every time to get whats due to me. Keep in touch and let me know how you get on. p.s my branches are with Motherwell and Coatbridge. Motherwell account i had 2 but closed them both in april 2005 and then opened another at Coatbridge which i still use but not for much longer. All the best, let me know your developments.;)
  • Hi Glasgow I'll let you know how my sister gets on she is going to post her letter to them this week. I have an account with AIS but I don't use so no charges, it was when I was at college they opened the account for us.
Our branch is the one in Ballieston.
    I wish you Luck
  • Thanks,will let you know.

Just preparing spread sheet for all the charges that i need for small claims court. Sending second letter to my branch in Coatbridge .... already know their response .. NO!

So will start spread sheet for that one too. Had a chat with a bank manager down south and he told me there is no way any bank will go to court as the charges are lawfull as they are not allowed to make profit when charging its against some act that was made,so go all the way. They will close your sisters account so make sure she gets one before taking them on.

    Good luck
  • Hi Glasgow, I just thought I would tell you there is a thread on the CAG board about the ASB a man was saying that they paid up the charges on his wifes account and yes they are closing her account. I thought they might so she is going to open a new account first because she is a single mother and gets her benefits paid into the account.
  • I forgot to say if you haven't looked on the CAG site you should, it gives you all the details about claiming in Scotland, I've just read something about being able to claim back 20 years I've not finished reading it all yet so don't know all the details.
  • Hi loveenriqueuk,

Yeh i found that site and i added a note, great to see they paid out, gives you the confidence to take it all the way.

I also saw that about claiming for last 20 years, so i downloaded it and sent a cracker of a letter back to airdrie savings bank pointing this out and told them they have 7 days to refund my money or going to court twice as they owe me £1455.

Cant wait to get a reply but probably it will be another standard letter saying NO. They i suspect wait till the last minute - Also sent a letter to the Coatbridge branch asking them for my £600.00- so waiting for them to get back to me.

I have three accounts with this branch 2 in motherwell and 1 in coatbridge. I closed my motherwell acocounts in april 2005 but still use the coatbridge one so i know they will close this one so i have set up a basic account with Lloyds Tsb the other day - best your sister does the same.

Also read in the Dily Mail yesterday that if your bank closes your account then report this to Ombusdan who will seek to get compensation as totally wrong on the banks side.

Anyway must get back to work, keep me posted.
  • hi loveenriqueuk,

Yes i saw that too, i sent a copy of that to the bank and telling them going to court.

Wonder what their reply will be -- guess it will be No Way Josie!!!!

Put a comment on the cag thread - see Miks b has hios court date on 20/3/07
he says will keep us posted - roll on 20/30/07
