Hi there i had dds that put me into my overdraft this morning but have transferred money in at 7.45am to cover them.
Internet banking shows the running balance as me being in my overdraft, will i be charged the £1 for this even though the money was put in first thing in the morning after the dds came out the same day

Do Halifax have a cut off time to pay money in x

If it doesn't show you as overdrawn as of end of day yesterday and you get your balance in credit by end of day today you won't incur the £1/£5 fee (whichever applies).

    Helpful linky
If you have an Ultimate Reward Current Account, Reward Current Account or Current Account and go into overdraft in the course of a day, make sure you repay your overdraft by the end of the day to avoid paying the daily fee for that day.

What about 'Saturday' (because I've been charged for use of an OD by treating Saturday (out) and Monday (back) as the same 'transaction' dates - only Halifax don't think so?) I'm now worried that if I draw into a negative balance on Saturday morning there is no actual time later on Saturday when I can recredit the amount and not have that treated as unpaid until 'Monday' - with two days use of overdraft.

The paragraph on the web site makes no reference to working day.

So if they do charge you'd have a pretty strong case for a refund!
  • you have until 3.30 on the day the account goes overdrawn to put the account back into credit to avoid the charge

You should not get charged if you went overdrawn in the morning and then paid it back in the same morning.

Think Halifax put it on there website, saying that if you are not overdrawn by the end of the banking day 3.30-4.30 I think, you will not be charged.

I remember seeing it somewhere on there website aswell.

I have not seen any cut off times quoted. For electronic transfers ie FP into your account midnight is the end of the day.
