Problems with phones 4 you....
Hi.
During mid December last year a salesman from phones4you called offering me a free upgrade over my existing orange contract which was due to expire this April. I agreed to the package (200mins, 500mb, unlimited texts) for a special price of £26 instead of there normal package price of £31. I was also informed that he would cancel my existing mobile phone insurance through Orange, as well as my old contract meaning that I could start using the new package straight away.
My first bill came through and it was £60+. I phoned phones 4 you and was informed that they forgot to apply the discount, that the new package wouldn't come into effect until Jan 1st, and that they would cancel the existing insurance. I was told that they would refund me the over charges.
My second bill came through and it was £56. The discount was still not applied, and the phone insurance was still on the contract. I tried calling straight away (2.15pm friday afternoon) but was informed that they were all on a training course. I then called Orange and after what felt like 2 hours I got through to a human being. I told them all the problems I had but they couldn't do anything about the phones 4 you issues, although they did inform me that I was the only person capable of cancelling the insurance. I promptly did this, but was told that as it was phones 4 you's mess up I couldn't ask Orange for a refund on the unnecessary insurance. Also the customer support person told me she would call phones 4 you as soon as they were re-opened and ask them to call me back asap.
On Saturday morning I called phones 4 you myself and asked them to explain what's going on. The girl said that she has forwarded the case to their finance team and that I will get a call back within 5 working days. I later checked my bill for this month and it's still well over what it should be, with the discounts still not applied and refunded.
I really want to cancel the contract because I feel cheated by phones 4 you AND Orange. Is there a way I can do this without getting charged £600 for the 'privilege'?
