Sky Broadband - any good?

Hi, I'm looking to switch my home broadband and have been looking at Sky's Broadband, TV and Phone package. Firstly, would anyone recommend sky broadband and also if I get a certain speed with my current provider is it likely it will stay the same when I move or could I end up with a slower or faster service?

I can recommend Sky broadband, I've had it for a number of years. Customer service was poor in the early days but is very good now.
If you change ISP you'll still be using the same copper pair so you speed will remain the same.

The new Wireless n router is very nice.
Wifi powered by the Cloud is coming soon, and fibre broadband in April (in BT FTTC areas) but it will be £20 /month.

The first thing to establish is whether or not you can get it, so do an exchange search on Samknows and look for Sky/Easynet in the right hand LLU column.

If you are out of their network area I'd advise against the Connect product.

  • Hi Penrhyn thanks for the reply, I'm pleased you said the speed shouldn't change as this was my main concern. We get 1.46 mbps with our current ISP (AOL) which is fine for our usage which is general surfing and watching Iplayer, 4OD, ITV Player etc. i've checked on SamKnows and we can get Sky/Easynet, thanks for the info

Sounds as if you are a long way from the exchange.
Have you tried getting a speed estimate off Sky?
