The report has already been completed as part of the Home Survey as the property is in Scotland, the OP is just asking for an original copy of it as the bank can't rely on the copy within the sale pack. So it is a 2 min job.0 -
I think you misunderstood if it was the Home Report ( report epc and an MV) it was only done on Friday, it still has to be "written up" !
If that was done some time ago and they are asking for an update to the mortgage valuation report or added, or an additional inspection, that was still only "done on Friday".Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

... is it acceptable to phone the surveyor for a timescale to give to the vendor? (who he is working for )

So the vendor is hassling you and saying that they will go back to market, because you have not yet got your mortgage offer approved. But being Scotland, the surveyor, on whose report your mortgage offer depends, is employed by the vendor? In your position I would not hassle the surveyor but I would be telling the vendor to get it sorted and that if they put the property back on the market before the bank had had the report for a week, you would regard it as bad faith on their partHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. OP, I'd just phone surveyor's office and say very politely that you're sorry to bother them, but you are being chased up for the transcript and you're wondering if they could give you a likely estimate of how long it's going to take. Or words to that effect.
They'll either give you a time or say they can't give the information to you, it's not a big deal. I used to work in a surveyor's office and people phone up to chase all the time.Love the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -
While it has it limitations a major advantage of the Canadian Home inspection system is that it is a boiler plate which is completed there and then.
You get the report in a metal folder, which is a bit odd, :rotfl:in your hand if you meet the inspector, which they encourage, to run through it.Stop! Think. Read the small print. Trust nothing and assume that it is your responsibility. That way it rarely goes wrong.

I think you're mistaken. The request for the transcript of the report was on Friday, the inspection was done on February 14th and the bank have already read the report via a website, however, they need an original copy of the report direct from the surveyor before they can make the mortgage offer. It takes 2 mins for such a request to be resolved and it's not unreasonable for the OP to give them a quick call to chase it up, I very much doubt the Surveyor will have any involvement in the process at all.0
